LCI Headlight Question

BMW of Morristown just released a walk around video of a 2024 X5 xDrive 40i, and I noticed that there are blue elements in each headlight housing.

I am aware of the fact that laser lights are no longer available, however, other pictures of recently produced X5’s I’ve seen don’t seem to have these elements within the housing.

Does shadowline eliminate these pieces in the headlight?

Just curious, as my recently ordered M60i shows nothing in the headlight, according to the configurator…

Yea, the full LEDs give you the blue plastic highlights. However if you add m sport professional, the m shadow line lights will remove the blue highlights.

Got it, thanks much.

That's what I assumed. Too bad they couldn't have just left them in w/ the shadow line treatment, as I think they definitely look better w/ the blue elements in them...oh well.

check out the video below (more specificly in the beginning and around the .26sec mark).
this M60i has the shadow line package but you can still see the blue accents on the headlights. it's more subtle then without the shadow line package, but it's still there.

Yea, I saw this video too earlier, and thought the same as you …. but all the cars getting delivered with the m sport pro package don’t have the blue highlights. It could be a USA/Europe thing in addition to the M sport pro package.

ah i didn't realize this might be a USA vs EU thing ...

i for sure can confirm that on the Belgian configurator the blue accents are visible with the msport pro package. it was also confirmed by my SA. you only get the blue accents though when you go for the optional adaptive LED's over the standard LED's, i don't know if this is also different in the US.

would be a shame if the US isn't getting that, as i think they add that something extra to the headlights.

maybe someone else has more info on this ?

Yea, m sport pro shadow line headlights in Europe do still have blue highlights. In the USA they appear to be removed.

Bonkers.

It probably is a US/EU thing...

Even the Canadian market is different, as they have the option of laser lights (w/ blue elements) on their 5 series, which we don't in the US.

I agree it's a shame too, as the blue elements definitely add a degree of visual interest, even though there's no difference in headlight performance.

at least in Belgium and i guess Europe for that matter, they do mean a differentiation between the standard headlight unit and the adaptive headlight unit.

Including a pic of the Full LED headlight for both the USA and Europe offering the blue highlight.

I am pretty sure there are no blue accents in M shadowline lights in the US. Watch the below vide starting at 0:36 mark.

The non-shadowline lights definitely have blue accents. See video below starting at 4:37 mark.

That’s right. The photo directly above is Full LED headlight, but no Shadow line

There is 3 headlight variants on the LCI.

Base
Full LED
Shadow line

In the USA, blue highlights in the lens are only in the Full LED variant

In Europe, blue highlights in the lens are in the Full LED and Shadow line variants but do look different, see photos above.

What's the difference between M sport and M Sport Pro shadow line lights on 50e? Does the shadow line has the top part blackish?

As confirmed by one of the US members of the Facebook G05 group who got one of the first 2024 G05 delivered recently, there are no blue accents in M shadowline lights in US versions.

2024 X5 Headlights

I just got my 2024 X5 (LCI) and I got the highest possible options for the headlights but it seems that they do not turn( aka adaptive). Am I missing something or did they get rid of this feature? If so that’s pretty crappy right?

They got rid of the turning headlights altogether I believe. I took my 2023 7 series to the dealer to check on it and they said "adaptive" doesn't turn anymore. On the 7 series, apparently it adjusts up and down but not left and right. On the X5, I haven't seen it do up and right adjustment. Overall, yea crappy dumb move by BMW like many other choices on the LCI

The LCI pricing guide (https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/at...4&d=1686589314) lists 552 option as “Adaptive Full LED lights”, so I guess they are adaptive similar to the 7 series.
TurtleBoy, do you have more info on that? Also, what is the difference between standard and full LED headlights in the LCI except that full ones are adaptive and have cornering lights?

Yeah that’s so stupid. I’m young so I can handle changes in technology but I have to say this car is really pissing me off lol. iDrive 8 is a complete nightmare! They also got rid of the light strip that goes across the lower section of the dash. WHY?!? Should have added more instead of taking away. Can never have too many ambient lights! Anyways it’s a nice car and all but at this point I want my 2020 back when I could actually get the options I wanted like integral steering, night vision, etc. C’mon BMW!

We pay silly money for the options and we can't get a 40i in UK.

This thread is about LCI headlights. Let’s stick to the topic.

Can someone with LCI full LED confirm the “adaptive” feature (steering responsive headlights)? If bmw take this one away, it is low blow. We have it since 2009 1 series, and even a $25k Subaru Impreza has as standards. It is one is the most useful safety features
