Quality check status for me too on 5/1 when build date is 5/1. Friend just got his new Q7 and it took FOREVER to get it, to the point where he could consider a new model year. He ordered it blacked out and still came with chrome badging. Much better experience with BMW for us in the US and particularly those of us near the plant. I expect mine will be shadowlined to the max as ordered. 😄

Well, on Saturday morning, 4/29/23 my X5 moved to status 153 (entering production) which was probably the last day of week 17. There was no movement from status 153 yesterday. Then, this morning it moved to status 155.

This morning (5/2/23) my X5 moved to status 182 ("awaiting carrier assignment"). So, made it through quality check. Hopefully it will be loaded on a truck today.

For those of you who have any interest in this, my status changed from 182 to 190 today. So my X5 has left the factory.

Mine also updated yesterday to status 190, so it has left the factory too. I’m relieved to see progress on the status as I was starting to drive myself nuts repeatedly refreshing the page with no changes.

Don't get your hopes up yet on not refreshing the Garage. My week 17 build completed last Thursday, and was and currently is still at status 193 (At the Port) since Friday. SA emailed me on Monday saying estimated departure is today 5/3, and estimated dealer delivery is 5/7.

I wish there was more explanation regarding the statuses. “Awaiting for carrier” followed by “dispatched from the factory” suggests to me that it’s been loaded onto a car carrier truck and it’s on the road to the dealer. Port in this case is the VPC (Vehicle Processing Center) on-site in SC. From what I gather, vehicles that are being moved by truck on the east coast go to the VPC first for final whatever. By train, the vehicle would hit a VPC closer to the end city for whatever they need to do.

There is still a shortage with truck drivers, so back in the day rolling off the assembly line right onto a truck and at the dealer 2 days later may have been a thing, but not these days.

Port isn't just for boats, also applies to air, and ground (trucks) in this case.

You are clearly knowledgeable on the matter, because I didn't know of any of that detail. Thank you for filling me in on it.

There's still something that just doesn't make sense to me: "Awaiting carrier assignment," "Dispatched from factory," and "At the port" seems like a lot to move the car from one spot on the property to another. They are building cars, right? Why don't they just drive them to the "port" rather than scheduling a carrier to handle it? It seems like an unnecessary procedure that slows everything down and that makes me question whether that's how it goes.

I could be wrong though, and I'll be the first one to say so when I am. Only time will tell, and I will definitely keep everyone updated with any changes in status.
