2024 X5 50e assisted drive plus

Hi, I recently picked up my 2024 50e and went to turn on assets drive plus. I get the message that “the function is no longer available. License expired.” Any ideas on how to fix? I did hard reset Idrive (8.5). The car is supposed to have the feature, I bought assisted drive plus. Thanks!

Make sure you are logged into your profile. If you are and it doesn't work then contact your dealer. Let us know how it turns out.

Thanks. Have been in touch with them and they state they have never seen that before and they are going to contact BMW. I figured I would also try here!

Sounds like they may be having server or data issues.

That sort of thing often means that someone somewhere did not flick a switch transferring the car - or one or more licenses of the car - to you upon delivery. Or, that they did, and as @TurtleBoy said, a server issue is delaying the response. A few years ago, I had that problem with two (!) 850s. It can be difficult to chase down, but persistence and escalation between you and the dealer - and you and the BMW "genius" operation - will sort it out.

I’m experiencing the same issue on my X7 I picked up on Thursday. Please keep us posted if you get a resolution. I didn’t have much time to poke around before I dropped it off at the detailer.

One thing I am curious for you guys who had issue (would not necessarily solve the issue) is, does the driver focus camera turns on?

When recording a video of the instrument cluster on a phone / camcorder, there are purple lights on either side plus top of instrument cluster flickering. The light are to help the drive attention camera that is required for HA, and the lights are invisible to human eye but camera can usually pick them up.

Yes. On my dash I can see those lights on either side using the video on my phone.

This could probably be related to the stop sale which went into effect today for the hands free option. I would check your VIN see if it says anything

What does this STOP024988 mean? Some part is missing of defective? The dealer can’t or should not release the car to us with this code? What’s the fix?

They were clueless at the dealer and since it’s a Saturday, they couldn’t get any further information. I don’t know if it’s either a defective module or something that can be fixed via a software upgrade. Since it was a stop sale, they woudn’t release the car to me. No fix as of today and hope to know more this week and hope it does not drag for weeks. If your car shows that code they will not release it to you

There are some posts on the loss of connected drive particularly in Canada. I suspect this has something to do with that. There seems to be a server issue

Just took delivery last Wednesday and having the same issue. Dealer said BMW acknowledged it Saturday and are working on a software patch. Stop order sounds concerning.

Just an opinion, but a stop order could have many reasons. One might be a distinct safety issue where the vehicle would not meet US (or local) codes until fixed, another might some function that could make the vehicle inoperable, and another is just that it would be a big annoyance to the customer if it was released and there are likely others as well.

So, to avoid pissing off customers even more, a stop sale may be issued. If it's a big safety issue, the DOT might get involved if some vehicles had been already delivered. With today's vehicles that rely on software so much, sometimes it's an easy s/w fix, but sometimes, maybe a new supplier modified something, and it takes a bit more work to come up with a fix.

I'd guess this is iDrive 8.5 related as this is the first production bunch with 8.5. My M60i was produced on 8/9 and is affected.

It is effecting both 8 and 8.5 vehicles.

I'm impacted as well on the M60i we picked up last week and have the code STOP024988.

I shot an email to my client advisor asking him to find out what we need to do to fix.

Loving the car so far though except for this.

This from my Sales Mgr just now “According to our Bmw rep yesterday, he said the fix should be out in three or four days, fingers crossed”.
