Anthracite-Brown Poplar Matte Finish Wood Vs. Fineline Open Pore Wood?
Trying to decide on this for my final build.
I want matt wood look vs glossy and looking to decide between these two. Seats will be silverstone. Thanks for your input! |

This will be subjective but open pore looks better IMO.
I went with the fineline black reluctantly. Wanted flat as well but not brown. Have piano in current x5 and tho it’s still in great shape and love the look, not going that route ever again. But it would look good w silverstone. |

It's completely subjective so do what YOU like, not what any of us like. I suggest going into the dealership, playing with the samples, and looking at any cars they have on the lot, even if they're not X5's.
All I can say is that in our black interior, the matte wood almost disappears. It will depend on the grain in the particular pieces fitted to your vehicle, but I often find myself thinking "oh, that's wood, not more plastic" because the color so closely matches the black and because the grain is so subtle (in ours). Coupled with the fact that the biggest piece, the cup holder cover, is generally up and not visible, the matte wood in our vehicle often goes unnoticed. If choosing the Silverstone gives you parts of the dash that are also light grey (as opposed to our all black dash) the matte might pop more. |

Thank you - yes fully understand it's totally subjective and I need to get back to the dealer to see these both in person in cars.
Feedback like you included in your reply does help as well. Which matt wood trim do you have BTW? Thanks again.. |

Anthracite poplar for me. I have it in my current X5 and if I do the 2024 will order again. It is elegant, matte, and has a natural look with the swirls of black to a little woody, or brown. I don't like any thing with more sheen than satin when it comes to furniture finishes, cars, etc.
Yeah, check out cars. Samples are lame. Last edited by Mixitt; 08-18-2023 at 09:42 AM.. |

Just my few cents. I dislike all the wood trims and i wish there were others available for the 50e in the USA.
However when i picked the trim for the 50e i finally arrived at the fineline black as it seemed to match the center x5 illuminated light section better than the other trims. That section is also glossy black .. so it all seemed to just work better. |

Just know that the open pore wood is randomized because it’s natural wood. You may get a large sunken spot or a spot that is not too attractive upon first sight.
We actually (wife) turned down the X5 50e we had ordered once she saw it. There was a huge mismatch in color on the dash that was pretty annoying. But if you like that type of thing, you’ll be fine. |

Attached picture. Only one I have. The light spots on the dash are all pits and quite distracting. Once you see it, you can’t unsee it |

Wow that’s one of the best pictures of the open pore wood I’ve seen.
I just saw the merino coffee interior at a dealer and now I am thinking about that too! Thanks for the pic! |
