Moved to Prod Begins today and as I feared, Prod Date: 11/29, end of WW48. Ordered on Oct 13, Prod Begins on Nov 13. Should I expect the Delivery on Dec 13 lol!!!

TurtleBoy : How long is it expected to take from the Prod Date to delivery in Texas?

Six wks order to deliver is pretty common assuming no holdups in QC or Accessories Center.

Okay. But I thought the Prod Date is when the car assembly is expected to complete and then shipping and delivery is further after that? If this is right, then I am looking into 7-8 weeks to delivery.

So you're at status 150 with prod date 11/29? Only takes one day to build and 3-5 days to TX once it gets on a truck unless youre in west TX. Tx is bigger than most countries. I'd estimate 1st week of Dec barring any delays.

Ok. Thanks.
Yes, it's at 150 right now. Central Texas, so hope to receive it in the first week of Dec.

As mentioned, it will be built on your production date. It there are no delays in QC or waiting for a carrier it should arrive in Texas two or three days later. That said, we have often been seeing delays getting a carrier so you may have to add a few days to that.

Have you seen any changes in your status since Sunday night? Mine went to "entering assembly line" around the same time as yours and has been there since. Still show 11/13 as production date. I know from experience that the tracker can lag a few days, just wondering if yours has changed or not.

Mine moved to "Entering Assemly Line" today - with a production date of 11/14/23. Getting closer...but it needs to come out to Southern California when finished...so still have a wait...

Just be thankful they aren't building these in Mexico like they do the 2 and 3 series. My M340i back in June was completed and sat in final assembly for 4 weeks and then another 4 weeks, all due to shipping congestion in the ports down there. The sapphire black picked up a ton of hard water spots sitting in the sun down there.

Thanks. Maybe I'll see some movement today based on being an 11/13 production date.

You should see it move shortly I’m thinking. WK46 production can go until Friday this week for shipping.
Who knows how accurate F12 is.

So my production date moved from 11/18 where it had been since last Monday to 11/17 today. I ordered on 10/30. Dealer is in MD so hoping its a short delivery time!

In a perfect situation, once received at the dealership what is the typical processing time for them to turn it around for pick up?

It all depends on whether the dealer has an allocation, what the production week tied to the allocation is, where you are located, if a carrier is available, etc. The quickest would be if you got an allocation that was just about to hit Production Begins, change it to be your specs and live within a day of the factory. You should get it in a little over two weeks. Obviously that situation rarely happens and the average time is like in the 4 to 6 week range.

Edit: After reading your question again you may be referring to the time for PDI. That could take a few hours to a day depending on the dealer, model, volume, etc.

The F12 is extremely accurate as that is what is used for their scheduling as well as it being updated during various steps until the vehicle's final build date is determined.

When I picked up my M340i I asked the dealer to do absolute minimal prep so that they wouldn't induce any marring on the paint. It arrived at the dealer around 11:00 AM and I picked it up a couple hours later. The X5 is from a different dealer but I've asked the same about not touching the outside of the car and minimal prep. Due to it being built and shipped within a few days I expect it to be in much better shape than the M340i was which sat outside for a couple of months, then onto a boat, and finally onto a car carrier.

Minimal prep, so what is included in that?
Thinking taking off carrier mode on the drive..

I'm not exactly sure what they did and didn't do on my M340i. The exterior was most important to me so I just stressed that it not get washed at the dealership. There wasn't any shrink wrap on anything so I'm guessing they pulled that off whatever comes protected. The interior windows had a ton of dirt film on them so in my case I think they just got the car ready to drive but didn't touch any of it with a towel.

I'll admit to being a little more fussy than most about this stuff, so many probably wouldn't go through the hassle. I an a hobbyist detailer and will be adding a ceramic coat shortly after receiving it. The fewer hands that touch it before then the less work I need to do polishing before the coating. Anyone taking their car to a detailer for something similar would be well served asking for the same no-wash prep on delivery.
