I believe there are more successful updates (myself included) than those here who report their inability to update

I feel lucky that my update yesterday seemed to go so much smoother than for others. The app and car notified me that the update was ready. I stopped the car in the driveway, clicked the "update" button, and locked the door. I did get the "unable to charge" message but unplugging and plugging back in fixed it immediately.

I don't understand the mentions of having to drive the car to update (I didn't). And the cable? Is that something I should know about?!?

The only cable you might have to worry about is if it is attached to your OBD-II port...something in there will inhibit the update from running, at least that's the only thing I'm aware of.

Several weird symptoms are 'normal' immediately after performing an update such as it reporting all of the doors are open, and if a PHEV, unable to charge. There's probably a few others, but they all go away once you drive the thing the first time. Some of those are listed in the update notes, but basically, don't get weirded out if you see some unusual things. If they're still there after your first drive after the update, then you may have an issue.

we don't have to initiate anything on our end to upload from iPhone to the vehicle especially if you regularly connect your iPhone to the vehicle (i use CarPlay), so this step happened in the background on your routine drives. i can't say the same happened on my wife's 530e when i recently updated her because i had to open the app to check its progress since i wanted to return her vehicle as soon as possible.

DO NOT have something plugged into the OBD-II port.

It's worse than not getting the update. My X5 was bricked during an update because of this and had to be loaded onto a truck and sent to the dealership. The update had to be loaded there.

I didn't have any problems with prior updates with the OBD-II cable (for power and speed read out for radar detector) plugged in.

I noticed after this upgrade that the AC in my 2003 45e blows colder air!
I had to increase the desired temp on the driver side from 21.5C to 22.5C for the same confortabile feeling. My drive choices are either Hibrid or Electric and always keep the fans to minimum.
Hope that this temp change will be observed by others too.

After upgrade CarPlay disappeared from the Media options but was easy to put it back by selecting the iPhone connection to go thru CarPlay

I just got the notification for Update 03.2023/67 available.

Speaking of release notes, it says "Function updates and quality enhancements", but I don't see any detail on what these are. Does anyone know what this update actually changes?

And other than ASS (which doesn't apply to my 45e), are there any other coding changes that can't be re-coded after the update?

TIA

I was just updated to 07/2023.35 on my M50i and not experiencing any issues. No issues with Comfort Access, or the sound of the engine, or anything else that some posts have suggested. ASS button continues to work exactly as it did before (no coding). A/C feels and works exactly the same as it did before. That's something I would definitely notice if it had changed.

Read post #41...that's all she wrote. Just like any other s/w release from anyone, there is always a general category that says something like ...general bug fixes and quality enhancements. As for your second question, ASS is the only one I've read about so far but that release is just rolling out and we may need more time before its more fully understood

Yes, thank you for suggestion, the settings are still there on coldest possible position for both passanger and driver. After I put it that position few months ago I didn’t rebooted the iDrive; maybe the update did that.
