Potential New Stop Sale/Recall on 2024 50e?

Does anybody know if any remedy is available for this tank leak stop sale? My car is just stuck in transit, it's already a month over the ETA dealership gave me, and now we have this STOP sale, which I worry about. Will it keep my car for months or more until it is fixed?

It should be a fairly simple job to replace it, there are numerous DIY videos, not for a G05 though.

It seems that the CEL issue could be this issue and not a valve replacement. That would be funny!!

My SA said that BMW will make the fix for my 50e available on the 25th.

That said, they have never mentioned the DMTL issue and only say they can't currently sell the car to me "because it needs a software update". However, I do see STOP024882 when I check my VIN on the German recall website.

Looking at your location, it's probably worth mentioning that I also ordered my 50e at the Bellevue, WA dealership. I don't think this issue should affect transit. Mine was on transit for about 3 weeks until it got to the dealership. However, it's been stuck at the dealership for about a week now.

When did you car leave the factory? It can take a 6 weeks or sometimes even longer to get to the West Coast ...

The GM at our dealer said his service folks were told by BMW today that they are tentatively expecting a fix to be released by early to mid next week, so this lines up with what your saying. Of course no promises but he was passing the info along.

The production date of my car is 2023-05-21.

Production date of cars dealer already got, checked them while I was selecting between couple (get out of the truck like 10 days ago) has this date 2023-05-29.

So I have no idea, mine was made 8 days earlier, and still in transit.

Did any of your guys’ SA or Gm offer any compensation (cash discount, etc) while cars are here but cannot be delivered?

Nope. But it’s out of their hands and the car is pretty high in demand, so I didn’t even care to ask.

Given the info above, it looks like they may be referring to the software update to fix the DMTL issue and not an 8.5 update. Of course you will likely be getting 8.5.

A stop sale is just that - stop selling. It’s not a “hold a customer who already bought’s car hostage”

No, that is not correct. As shown on his paperwork, the SIB is not available yet and he will have to go back once it is.
