my 45e was a week 48 build (2020) with delivery in December and came with 11/2020.38 software. It has the same passenger side misalignment like Paladin1, so I don't think it's a software issue for me as I had the most up to date version at the time of pickup. IMO, I don't think something like this (albeit minor) should've been allowed to roll out of the factory.

I only just dropped it off to my SA today due to my car being detailed and modded first (priorities!), and luckily they provided a loaner, so however long it takes to fix... I gave him a photo of the top-down view as well as the SIB.

UPDATE 4/5/2021: while they updated iStep from 11/2020.38 to .64, I don't think this alone fixed my camera misalignment since the work order stated a recalibration was done.

Same issue here. MY21 November build i-STEP 7/2020. It developed after a few weeks of receiving the factory delivery.

I just did the 7.21 software update, and somehow it screwed up my overhead camera view. Prior to the update, the overhead view would show the parking spot lines in the perfect orientation to the car and absolutely parallel to each other. Then today after doing the update I got the image as seen below. Very askew.

I'm super busy with work for the next week so no way I have time to take this to the dealer to sort out for a bit. Anyone else see this after the update?

not me. mine came crooked (see earlier post) but after two OTA updates, the view is still fine. yours may just need recalibration but sucks that the software appears to have messed it up

Just to update, I scheduled an appointment at the dealer after telling them what the issue was—they said it shouldn't take more than a couple hours. I brought it in, they did the calibration and I was out the door in less than an hour and a half. So, only the most minor of inconveniences.

Of course they had no idea why a software update would bork the original, correct calibration, but they also said they hadn't heard of anyone having the same cause, so I guess I was just unlucky.

Glad to hear it was a quick resolution and a recalibration is all that was needed!

Given the frequency at which this one has surfaced and repeatedly come back, it's too bad there isn't a way that the customer could initiate the recalibration. I get that creates some challenges/risks, but it seems generally beneficial.

I have no actual idea how the calibration is done, but I imagine it involves driving onto some sort of printed floor covering that the cameras are preprogrammed to recognize and adjust the cameras so it matches the proper alignment. Which would make it impossible to do at home. But I am just guessing.

I took delivery of my 22 X5 e45 a month ago. I thought I was going crazy until I read this post. I've had 5+ cars (4 bmws) in the past few years that had over-head camera and this is the only one that's had any issues. And these issues are quite severe in terms of how much off they are!

And then, sometime last week, MAGICALLY, the overhead camera is aligned! I have no idea what happened. I didn't go to dealer certainly and didn't do anything about it. I did hit curb a moderately sometime ago and maybe it hit the cameras back in place? haha

If anyone else had this magical fix happen, chime in and maybe we can find a pattern.
