PSA announcement

So….after a year in the car, I was playing around (driving around of course ) one day and I turned off the center/IDrive display. It’s quite nice-turns off all the visual noise (especially at night). Also a great way to easily clean off the fingerprints (with a proper cloth). Just passing along…

Have you read your user's manual?

"Option" button of your center console.

Press another button like down on the center dial to re-enable.

The question is not whether I have read my owner's manual. The question is do I REMEMBER my owner's manual. Subtle, but important, distinction.

The problem with complicated tech (like in current BMW) is that unless you regularly use it to the point where all adjustments become second nature, you (or most of us) forget settings/screens/etc. Thus, you are forced to go "study" the manual again and again and again.

And that gets old (at least for me)…

Garage List
The ‘A’ in “PSA” actually stands for “announcement”

My two cents on this: assign the “display on/off” function to a custom gesture control. I thought the gesture controls were pretty gimmicky until I started using this one. I’ve got mine set so that pointing two fingers at the screen will turn it on/off. Way quicker than using the menus. Turning the screen off at night makes it easier to see, especially on roads in more rural areas where it’s DARK dark.

It took less than 30-seconds to find it in the app's user manual...just saying.
