1226 miles on my XDrive 40i
I took a one-day road trip today. My house to take something to my sister at her condo on the beach. 2:45 hours down, 3:00 hours return.
Car has 1226 miles on odo (I’ve had it 3 weeks). Registered 28.3mpg, 80% interstate (~10% >speed limit). CarPlay never sync’d (dammit). Got home, vacuumed, foam canon washed, dried. Asked wife if she wanted to go for a ride. Just to get gas. The answer was no, but what does that tell ya? 😉 |

I think the 40i's do very well. We are in the middle of a road trip and on the first leg from CO to PA we got an even 27mpg on our 2019 for the 1,663 miles. That was with the cruise set to 9mph over the speed limit with occasional forays into the triple digits. Of course now puttering around towns for the last week that number has dropped but very happy with it. It is amazing the mileage it gets compared to others of similar, or even smaller, size.
Edit: Should have noted that I use Adaptive driving mode. This of course is the traditional Adaptive DDC.

Our M60i has just over 1,000 miles non of which are highway and the vehicle is indicating 19.5. Not sure how accurate the X6's computer is but that seems outstanding for a 5300 lb vehicle. I think they show 22 combined if I remember but it honestly doesn't matter to me and would be fine with significantly less to have this awesome engine. |

I routinely get close to 30 mpg on highway trips if there is little terrain change and I stay below 80 mph. The I6 engine is a keeper.

I know, not the same, but my Z4 M40i had phenomenal gas mileage on highway. BMW’s 6 cylinder engines are great. Almost seemed like the faster I was going, the less fuel it used. So safe the environment - raise the speed limit!!! 😁😇

The guy who grinds his way through both the morning and evening rush with backed up traffic for miles is likely not going to see my numbers with a 4.4L TTV8. The use that my M60i has seen so far is what I would consider normal and average in local traffic. The mild hybrid that can add 147 lb ft of torque certainly has to help and can be felt vs my previous M50i. |
