X5 45 e 21" - steering too sensitive on highway - any suggestions ?

I am coming from an E70 5.0 19" wheels X5, and my new X5 45e on 21" feel very sensitive on highway. I mean the slightest input on the steering and the car wonders around. I am missing the 'on-rail' feeling from my E70.

any suggestiong to get a more on rail feel ?

different alignment ?
different tires ?

First thing is to verify that the tires are properly inflated.

21" is much more wider than 19"
I would guess 1 inch width difference on the steering tires, I would say pretty normal for wide tires.

Most likely tramlining. I get the same thing depending on the road surface. The stiff sidewall run-flats exacerbates the problem. Most of time the on-center feel is rock solid though. I haven't played with tire pressures to see if that would help...it hasn't bothered me too much.

As mentioned above.

Try sport mode it lowers the suspension en sport steering more stable. Both give a better feeling.

And second indeed tram railing. In Belgium we have really bad roads. The left lane has quite deep impressions by the big trucks. I have it less with my 20 inch wheels on my 45e with the f15 40e with 20 inch I had it more. The tires are 305 vs 315 not a big differences in size but they feel different.

And check your tire pressure.

I'd love for BMW to allow us to make the steering dampeing heavier with some menu setting. At least a range we could tweak. the sport mode is too mild for me when it comes to steering, I much prefered my E70 steering.

How many miles on tires? Need 500ish miles for tires to settle in. I agree, E70 steering was awesome!
