Looks good, you’ll need them no doubt! Is it new winter tyres on your existing wheels or a complete set change?

Looks sharp! I have the staggered 22s on my X5. I didn't want to go smaller for my winters because I like my rims too much. I've got the same Pirelli Scorpion winters on mine as well and I've been really impressed with them so far. Just had our 4th snow of the season in Wisconsin.

Love speeding past the grandmas in their jade green Subarus, cutting people off, not signaling, and being an overall a**hole BMW driver that all the lesser brands love to hate...but with sure footed winter traction and stability!

It's a complete set change. There is a lot of salt on the Swedish winter roads so the winter setup do take some damage. It's also a lot easier when it is just a quick change.

I got told by my dealer in Belgium that 21" is possible as winter wheels however if you need snowchain (when you go skiing - in most European resort it is obliged) you need to opt for the 20" because there would not be enough space to put them on the 21". Not sure if it is true?

Its true. In BMW webpage wheel's configuration for winter on 21 says not compatible with snow chains. So indeed 20 is the limit

My dealer ordered rims and tires separately and mounted them for me so they can do 22 in Europe. But not as an official setup from BMW Europe.

Chains are so bad for the drive train. I will never want to put them on a 90K car.

I think - it is the old rule - like no booze on Sundays in some US states. And mountains are just following it for years

The studded tires are so good now. I used studded Hakkas in the worst snow storms in Russia through 2 feet of snow drifts and ice covered roads with no issues.

Why chains?

Anyone found snow socks for the 22s or indeed chains if absolutely needed? Rarely needed in the UK but I have had for all the previous cars.

Is it just me, or does the tread not look very thick ??

Do you think it could make it through 3 winters?

BSM looks so damn good. If I didn't just have come out of BSM, I definitely would have done it again. Went with CBM this time bc never had it before.

My 22" winters on my second set of black OEM 742Ms Center caps are in the mail.
Decided to wait a few more weeks before I switch out myself.
