so a car that's supposed to be safe gets hit from behind as the third card from the truck. HIT by a DAF truck not a real truck like on American roads and gets destroyed. You have 3 cars to reduce the impact prior to x5 getting slammed and the driver surviving a pure miracle. I own an x5 and would not post this to tout safety, I would hide it.

Dunno about that. Remember, that's a right-hand-drive car. The view of the left side, the seating area with the most space, is the front passenger seat. Even in the rear, a baby would easily have had enough space to survive as would the ofter passengers. I'm not saying they wouldn't be hurt of course, but given what the driver survived... have a look the the photo of the right side -poor person had a steering wheel in their chest to contend with.

Well no, it's mostly modern cars being very safe. If this was an 89 civic, all the luck in the world wouldn't help much.

Some dude on Facebook was a witness and said there were 4 passengers — a female driver and her girls. He also added some phone photos to prove it. Kinda makes sense, there's no reason for the emergency services to cut off the B-pillar on the passenger side to extract someone just from the front passenger seat since that area was relatively intact.

According to the British news, there was 3 passengers with the driver, all with minor injuries.
One of the reasons why SUV are becoming more popular is safety. https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-new...r-car-22479035
