Home Assistant supports BMW

So Home Assistant (https://www.home-assistant.io/) now also supports Connected Drive, specific docs can be found here: https://www.home-assistant.io/integr...nnected_drive/

I've set it up to create some automations (do X when the car gets connected to power, do Y when car enters a zone,...)

Anyone already played with this? Any good suggestions on usage?

I am using home assistant to show the status of charging, range and fuel level of my x45e (basically to let me know if I can make it to the store without filling up or charging up first). It is also giving me alerts through Apple's Home app when the door is locked and unlocked.

Currently trying to create an automation based on the location of the car but it's not checking frequently enough to see where it is

My current implementation.

HA is running on a wall-mounted tablet in the kitchen.
Most important is the button to preheat the car, as my wife is too lazy to charge her BMW displaykey...

As you can see, i have no frontend UI skills

Thanks for sharing, looks awesome!

I'm now trying to do automations based on location but the time interval appears too big - did you try anything with that?

How do you configure Home Assistant for 'BMW Connected Drive"?
I tried to add it as new integration to HomeAssistant 2023.2.1 and I used as the user name and password as used for myBMW app, but it returns a fail to connect error message
As region I selected 'north_america'.
Do I need to enable this 3rd party remote access somewhere?

I think I ran into that same issue when they switched it from configuring in the config files to the UI component. FWIW, I think it eventually worked. Right now my integration is showing 'unknown' so it's possible there's an issue on BMW's side.

It was a silly password typo issue.
Confirmed to work with Home Assistant 2023.2.2

Ah! At least it's an easy fix. I know there was something odd when they first changed the config method, but I can't remember what it was. It's working now though, so hopefully I never have to go back and futz with it again.

I've set up an automation with HA to auto close my garage if I forgot & to turn on my sidewalk lights when I get home at night. I just wish the the BMW Connected Drive integration supported X45e pre-conditioning.
