just checked and indeed takes whatever you had last time setup. So make sure you don't have AC on in winter :P

is remote start still a feature? i've seen it in other threads but dating back to 2018-2019. i just took delivery of a 2021 xDr45e in the US and don't see Remote Start in iDrive or in my iPhone BMW Connected app v10.9.2.2059. nothing in the manual either.

EDIT: am i understanding it correctly that Remote Start (actual start of the ICE) is not a feature on the 45e? preconditioning/climatize has essentially replaced it?

Yes, on the 45e pre-conditioning replaces Remote start: it does not start the ICE because it doesn’t need to start the ICE nor use the ICE to do pre-conditioning since climate control uses the high voltage battery, not the ICE...

It's best to do the preconditioning while still plugged in, then your battery won't be partially discharged. But, it will do it regardless. It does not start the ICE.

Can anyone inform me if the heated seats are supposed to be turned on whilst preconditioning? Mine only heats the steering wheel and sets the climate control to the last temperature it was set to.
It would make sense to pre heat the seats if the temperature is below the threshold set in the climate rules, but not sure if mine is having hickups or just not supposed to do that.

Haha same thing here. 6h30 and the kids were unable to sleep. And so the we.

I can confirm that if I pre heat the cabine is heated, steering wheel, seat and armrests are heated. The seat heating however is at a lower level than the steering wheel and the light don't show in the dash but I can sure feel it.

My car is parked inside. So it seat heating only automatically turn back om again when I drive outside for 3 minutes. I have it set at below 10 Celsius. Usually the garage is around 12. I haven't tested if it only heats the seats below the threshold.

Since 11/2020 I don't have automated steering wheel heating anymore.

So I absolutely love preconditioning the car while its in my garage since the ICE does not turn on. For non hybrid BMW's....does the engine turn on or is it just running in essentially accessory mode for a short time? Anyone know? thinking of getting my daughter a 330...thus the question

My 2020 X7 40i starts the engine when I initiate Preconditioning via the app or the key fob. I believe all models without Hybrid or Mild Hybrid engines start the engine to initiate the heating of the seats, steering wheel, and cabin temperature.
