i just spent 2100 last year......

I'm happy (for now) with mine.....

2.8 ghz core 2 duo.... pretty pathetic now with the quad cores damn

now if i could sell mine for a good price, I'd definitely be down for an upgrade

AppleCare on my 15" is expiring this October, so I will sell the laptop few months before that and get me a new 15" with hi-res anti-glare screen this time.

Currently using miniDisplayPort to DisplayPort cable to hook up my 24" Dell.

I was/am really hoping that Thunderbolt would allow dual monitors. No word on that yet, but I am afraid i will be disappointed

They look super nice. My Applecare expires later this year, but I'm holding on to this computer until they do a complete redesign, which should be next year I think.

given the fact that it plays 4 HD videos and another on a screen, I'd say it defiantly has the bandwidth for dual monitors. Just needs an adapter probably.

Not even. With thunderbolt, you can just daisy-chain em together

There is no way in hell you are getting a new redesign next year. Today's release with Thunderbolt IS the re-design. You will have to wait for 3 more years to get a different look.

^ I will literally guarantee you they will redesign next year. Apple does like 3-4 year life cycles with their computers, I've especially paid attention to their laptops. They came out with the current unibody styling in late 2008 and they will be replaced next year.

http://www.appleinsider.com/articles...o_in_2012.html

^Although it's a rumor, it's already been noted that the styling cues from the new Macbook Air released a few months back will be what the next gen Macbooks will be based on. Thunderbolt is not a redesign, it's an added feature. There's absolutely no way Apple would let the current unibody styling go for another 3 years, it makes absolutely no sense for them. If you look at the history of their laptops, it's a redesign every 3-4 years. Plus, redesigning such a popular product always increases sales, especially from those people that always must have the latest and greatest product from Apple regardless of price. Apple always wants to stay on the cutting edge of style and keeping the same design for 6 years does not flow with their past actions/redesign timelines.

I came 25 times and then passed out. My MBP is from 2008, and the main reason I do not upgrade this laptop is because the "upgrade" you buy is only going to be changed the next year, depreciating your current one. Plus, mine works just fine. Iunno, I guess I'm not a nerd.

Where do you see that?

I just came across this:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread....ageID=13132037
http://www.tidbits.com/article/11989

Quote:
The bi-directional nature of Thunderbolt enables you to daisy-chain to a single jack up to six high-speed data devices or five data devices and a display without the need for a hub. Apple’s wording is quite specific, though: you cannot daisy-chain multiple displays.

Oh, and not only is the new macbook pro steady and reliable, it'll speed past any $2K pc laptop any day of the week.

My 2006 MBP still works great and is faster than my friends laptops they bought last year. I will probably upgrade this year or next just so I can start doing more video editing in HD.
