Being in a northern climate where winter tire changeovers are extremely common for lots of car owners, it's just simply easier to do a wheel swapout, than twice a year pop the actual tires off your rims and re-seat an alternate set.

I’m running Michelin Latitude X-Ice X12 on 20” OEM M Sport rims. We’ve had a little wet snow but nothing to really test the tires.
I’m a fan of Michelin’s winter tires, after tiring of Blizzaks’ noise. Here’s my 2 Series on them after plowing 15” fresh powder for the final half mile home in a snowstorm .. ground clearance is way overrated! |

I ordered an M-Sport on Wednesday with the 21" Y-spoke 741M performance run flats - struggling with winter tires. The entire wheel/tire program with the G05 seems not that well thought-out which is frustrating. My wife has Pirelli Scorpions on her Q7 and we both really like them because they work well while being quiet. We've always just swapped tires for winter and not wheels/tires to keep the stock look. It appears these are maybe my only two options since nothing fits so looking for some opinions...
Front: 275/40 R21 - No problem, easy (thanks BMW) Rear: Can't get a 315/35 R21 but I can get a 315/40 R21 OR 295/35 R21 - so either stretching the tire some (really don't like the look of this but did it to square up the Blizzaks on my M3) or adding some sidewall. Initial reaction is to run a 40 so it matches the front vs. stretching the rear... Any ideas or suggestions? Cheers! |

I had to order tires out of Canada to find something in stock, but this is what I ordered for mine. I went 10MM narrower front and back to find a winter tire.
265/40 R21 https://www.1010tires.com/Tires/Pire...zero+3/2679500 305/35 R21 https://www.1010tires.com/Tires/Pire...zero+3/2679400 The variance with the stock tires is less than 3%, which should be fine. I doubt the 10MM narrower will be noticeable. |

Or, I can have the winters mounted and ready to go sitting in my garage. When it's time, I wander out to my garage, and change the tires in less time than if I was waiting in some tire shop waiting room. And, I know it got done right. I never-seize the bolts and the wheel-hub mating surface so it doesn't rust together, and I use a torque wrench with the proper setting instead of relying on some 20 year old kid with an airgun over-torquing the bolts so bad that I can't get them off without using an airgun. But that's just me. Also, the coffee is better at my house than it is in the waiting room at the tire shop.

M-sport G05 X5 winter set up
Quote:
One year I spent like 4 hrs at discount tire with appt jus to install a winter set that I had already dropped off a couple days before. Now I just waddle out to my garage and do the swap myself. |

I have seen various BMW centre caps aftermarket - is there one from this mfg or elsewhere that would work? Can you confirm where you got these.
Also as I don't believe these are RF's are you switching for winter from 22's and you will have the OEM spare when your car arrives or have you found a source aftermarket for one? Mine's on the way as well and will need winters for sure in Canada. Last edited by GWN18; 11-25-2018 at 10:35 AM.. |

I'm just curious if any Canadian got a different story from their dealer, or has been able to order one from parts counter? Securing a spare will dictate RFT or non-RFT for my winter set... |
