Sleeper alphabet delete?

has anyone done the delete while keeping everything looking factory to any preying eyes?

is that even possible?

i know parts of the exhaust system is weird.. flattened pipes with weird shapes. why did bmw do that? it's like they are making restrictions for the sake of it...

do all dp's have all the plug ins even though people who get them are deleting everything?

you can keep the shell of the dpf and such without using them? and not having them just clog up?

not worried about the other restrictions in the system?

would modifying the system be cheaper than a full turbo back system? i'm still on the fence.

What are other restrictions?

Modifying probably will be much cheaper than a new exhaust

If you use an aftermarket exhaust, you can reinstall the OEM system later in case you decide to sell it. That way you don't have to destroy your DPF and SCR.

And you have to keep stock ECU as well then.

My understanding is that you can re-flash with your original coding. You revert the ECU back to stock.

Yea and no, if you have your tuner flash it back, yes, it will be in the same state as stock, but if you are on the latest firmware and use something like winKFP to update, it only does a partial flash. You actually have to revert to an older version, then flash to the latest update to completely wipe out a tune.

There are also options to clone a DDE and keep a stock version on hand

Well, since I know a reputable tuner, I will have him revert it back to stock. He seems to know what he is doing, don't you think? ;-)

Most likely he knows what he is doing, but he has to spend time on that = money + to put stock exhaust back will cost something as well.

Yes, if I were to go back to stock, I would expect to have to pay my tuner to revert the ECU. I will probably never go back, but I am keeping all the stock bits and pieces just in case.

As far as physical changes, it is almost impossible to detect Jess's DP, or any of the other changes unless you gut the SCR from the bottom for some reason.

so most people are just coding out the alphabets instead of removing them completely?

would be cool to use the urea tank for expanded fuel tank... ha

"Most people" are leaving the urea tank right where it is but there are some intrepid souls (search the forums) who have removed it (TDIwyse perhaps?). Problem is, you have to fab some sort of valence under the car to cover up where the tank was and preserve clean airflow. On the other hand it's extra space if you have to stack a couple of drifters in the trunk, and it lightens the car by 60-70 lbs if memory serves.
