3/22 was the update that added back apple car play ,android auto and support for two devices connected over bluetooth.
My car (GO6) was delivered with this version (06P1) last May and the 3/22 update was applied at the dealership manually before delivery to restore the missing functionality.Since then in 10 months of ownership i didn't receive any OTA updates.
I am wondering if this version 03/2022 has over the air support after has been applied manually like my case.
Anybody else is facing the same issue ?

3/22 was also applied by the dealership for me because there was an issue(recall I believe). I already received the notification for this update through OTA

I purchased a second hand 3 series 2 weeks ago which has ID7 and was disappointed to find out it didn't have Android Auto, when checking the software version it shows 11/2019.39, can't believe its not been updated since by tge previous owner.

Given how old the software is do you think it'll ever get an OTA update or is this one for the dealers?

It could be the previous owner didn't install the OTAs when offered, some people do that. Take it to the dealer to get updated to current, it will be worth what they charge.

Do you think if I were to hold off, even if it were for a few months, that an update would eventually come through? I'm just wondering if the updates they put out are only to update software with a more recent version/date.

It is possible you will get one but being that far behind in the software it may not be sent out. We have had folks skip a version or two and get an OTA but not sure about as many as you have.

11/2023.50 is the latest OTA but not sure if any iD7's got it in the US or not.

In preparation prior to driving, I went through all menus to change setting to my preferences, and while in there I enabled updates - then over the course of the next 2 days of driving, I received and installed 3 or 4 new revisions.

So my anecdotal experience (that may or may not apply to you), is that an older revision (unknown how old, at least 2022 or 2021) non-updated vehicle can receive updates to the latest level, but they may come in stages - you may not update straight to the latest 2023 revision.

Are you sure those weren't map updates? It would be highly unusual to have that many OTA updates, especially successful ones, over that short of a time period.

In hindsight, no, I'm not sure. You may be correct that they were only map updates.

If it was an OTA you would have had to download it to your phone, transfer it to the vehicle (unless someone you got a direct download) and then acknowledge it and leave the vehicle for 20 minutes while it was installing.

Rolling out in Canada. I installed OS7, iDrive 11/2023.50 last week on my 2020 M50i. My 7th OTA so far. Downloaded directly in my X5 and installed with no issues. I had the WiFi only download setting in the MyBMW app & it showed a "no internet connection for download" message while I was out all day so I know it definitely didn't use the app.

It prompted for install once I got home. Haven't seen any changes so far, so likely only minor bug fixes.

btw, I also am not subscribed for Connected Services, but that had no impact on the download or install.

So it seems that OS7 can/will continue to receive OTA updates, but without any actual enhancements I'm not sure how much value they will provide. I suppose that each new version could potentially bring new bugs that will require a subsequent update to resolve ...lol

I am not sure you necessarily have to download the OTA to your phone before upgrading. I have two LCI’s, and I have both cars on my app. I got notice via the app that updates were available and as I have done in the past, I downloaded the software from my phone to my G05 and performed the upgrade as many do. But before I could get to my wife’s LCI a few days later, the software was already loaded on the car, and all I had to so what make sure that the 20 minutes of quiet time as instructed, and the upgrade completed. BTW, at this time my phone was not paired with my wife’s car. I experienced the same procedures on the prior upgrade too. I agree it is strange.

That is correct but the OP is running iD7 and also why I mentioned a direct download. BMW got rid of those a few years ago but last year reimplemented them in many cases.

I received the notification that 11/2023.50 was available for download. Did the download and also uploaded to my vehicle. Was waiting on the ready to install prompt in the X5, after a few hours the update disappeared from the X5 and the app.

Don’t know if I will receive the prompt again. Anyone else have this problem?

I have 11/2021.50 on my 2021 X5. It appears I'm a bit out of date. The app tells me that I have the latest version though.

BMW doesn't support updates on demand so checking with the app or in the vehicle will always say it is up to date unless BMW pushes an update out for your specific vehicle.

You know.....I think you're a mind reader or watching me. Either way I think I am going to learn a lot from you about BMW's in general. I went in on my drive to work this morning to see if there was a manual way of checking and 03/2023.67 is showing to be available now.
