F95: 2023 vs LCI (2024)
Hi guys,
I've been in the market for a new car for a while now and while I love the new 7er & XM, I need something that gives me a similar experience to my current F86. I've found a great offer on a 2023 F95 but my concern is that I don't want to miss out on the LCI updates. Any idea of just how big the LCI is going to be? besides the large screen and ID8.. Would appreciate your thoughts.

New engine (S68) including mild hybrid tech, if I recall correctly. I remember reading output is expected to be similar to the current with maybe slight 0-60 improvement thanks to add’l torque from the mild hybrid system (think 0.1-0.2 sec quicker, no more).

No mention of how much additional weight will be added though anywhere that I've seen. The thing is heavy enough. It doesn't need any more.

Yeah I haven’t seen anything either. I’m guessing probably another 100-150lbs.

Ya i wasn't thrilled about everything I was reading about this bs mild hybrid system in the LCI which is why I decided not to wait for it and ordered and took delivery of a 23 X5MC 3 months ago. If they are going to add all that complexity and weight i want more power and better performance. They did it for their CAFE numbers etc. Not to benefit the end user.

To be honest any performance difference between the current and LCI for the X5M/X6M will be minimal if that. For me the only thing i'm interested in is how will the updated front/rear will look plus any suspension tweaking.
Having a new drive train isn't always good news because there will be kinks to iron out. I'm on the X7 forum occasionally and a lot of the LCI cars have all sorts of issues.

I intentionally bought a pre-LCI '23 to avoid iDrive 8 and the new S68. YMMV

Joe Achilles just drove the x7m60i with the new generation v8 and was not impressed with the low end torque, throttle calibration, and revised zf 8 speed transmission. Of course the full m version will be tuned differently, but I was surprised to read the above comments as BMW usually excels with engine/ transmission/ throttle tuning.

Exactly. IF there is a hp increase from the S68 engine and with the small amount of added torque from the hybrid system, the extra weight from the hybrid system will easily eat up a couple tenths of time.

Except for the DCT trans vehicles, BMW has been tuning their vehicles with the ZF trans so well for years now. |

Thanks all for your valuable contributions.
Update: I actually pulled the plug on a brand new 7er. It was sudden but it just happened.

I am right in the middle of this. Looking to upgrade my F85, wanted to wait to make sure I have updated heads/tails as I always hate having the older version...
..but really struggling with this new engine thing, and whether it's going to be a positive or negative carryover on the new car. Also the new idrive with the single massive screen, I'm a bit indifferent but have no idea what to do.

Very surprising how little info we know about the lci engine wise and power wise since they are supposed to start production this spring. I tend to suspect it’s because there really isn’t anything good to report. I suspect a 300lb increase in weight or so and no change in hp with some added tq down low to help offset the added weight. All in all a net gain of zero for performance enthusiasts. Nothing there enticed me in any way. Now if that works have added power say around 650-675 with that added weight I probably would have waited to order a lci.

I'm planning on retruning to an X5M, but holding to see what the LCI looks like. I'm not a huge fan of the stubbing in of I drive 8 on the X7 nor the look of the LCI X3M - -

Oh man thank you on the X3M/ X3 in general. I hate the halo energy sword tail-lights. I sort of miss mine.
