Austin 11.18.2012 Any ticket info?

Now that the date's been set, does anyone have insight as to when tickets will go on sale? Also, any idea what the prices will be?

I would imagine there will be a frenzy once the circuit announces the tickets.

I think pricing is going to be crazy in comparison to some other F1 events, those who signed up on the website might already know this.
At one point they sent out a survey to see what kind of packages you'd buy, at what prices, etc. The pricing they had listed was more than what I've seen for other tracks. Not that I won't buy a ticket, I just think it's going to be pricey.

I'll sleep in my rental car and not give one single fuck. As long as I have my pit straight grandstand seat for the entire weekend I'll be fine.

Hotels aren't, and more importantly, houses aren't either. Check www.homeaway.com and www.vrbo.com for reasonable (as in they haven't jacked rates for the race yet) prices.

My real concern is how to get to the race. The track is fairly close to the airport, but the secondary roads from there could get very backed up and there are no immediate plans for the light rail to run out to either the airport or the track. For a couple of years at the awful Indy F1 race, I camped out at the parking overflow for Indy/Champ/Nascar/IRL lots, but I'm not sure how much of that will be available for the Austin race, especially the first year.

I'd wait until the track is actually nearing completion before making my reservations. It's still not a sure thing that this race will go ahead in 2012 - there is still a lot of money to be spent and plenty of red tape to get through (both domestically and with the FIA).

Basing this on other inaugural tracks, I would say that tickets won't be on sale until 6 months or less before the actual grand prix.

Has anyone ever actually received notifications from f1.com? Ive signed up numerous times and never received updates. I hope tickets arent too expensive. How much could they possibly be? I paid $500+ for a 2 day pass for the Abu Dhabi race.

Not that I'm expecting this, but I got grandstand seats to the 2nd USGP @ Indy for $75/ticket. So for me, the low ticket price offset the travel expense.
