So I tried it for a short trip today using Apple Maps. One thing I didn't like was that it automatically went into assisted driving mode on the dashboard with the directions laid on top. I had the same on 11/2020. I tried Navigating with Apple and now a got instructions on the assisted drive view which I didn't have before. But now it does the same when navigating in idrive.

And I tried this morning, in climate rules steering wheel heating is gone. Seat heating still works.

Maybe don't be too annoyed. With the exception of opportunity to code and test unreleased driver assist features, the reports of 11/2020.xx so far seem to be more focused on feature removals and than anything usefully (and working) new.

The new drive assist features ARE now released with 11/2020, but not applicable to pre-MY21 without coding.

Only real change seems to be a fix for a camera switch issue: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/202...0V598-0733.pdf

The G05 isn't mentioned as impacted, but there is a programming update for ICAM.

WRT BMW pushing current release software OTA - be careful what you wish for and take a look at the 'bricked car from OTA update' threads. There would be more threads like those without in-field testing at dealers, and RSU pilot.

I just found something new I think.

The active ambient light in the door handles now show a small white line when the trunk is open.

My kids were taking stuf out when I was still in the car and it was not switched off

First tought it was a defect. But it disappeared once the trunk was closed.

And when opening a door with de car on it blinks red. But it already did that before.

Not really a substantial upgrade.

anyone else having problems with carplay and 07/2020? ever since I got this update, the phone won't stay paired with carplay. I'll get into the vehicle and it'll say 'connect new device'. I've had to reboot idrive (that'll sometimes work), or remove my phone and re-pair my phone.

It's an iphone x running 14.3; Even when I re-pair it, sometimes the phone/music will disconnect as soon as the engine start/stop button is pushed at the end of a trip.

I'm sure this is just because me not correctly having paired it properly. Anyone else have a sequence of steps to ensure this works every time?

Mine took about the same. Actually for the last one I never did know if the download from the phone finished or if it just went off the download that the vehicle did.

FOr an android phone, you only need to be connected via WiFi, but for iOS, they want both BT and WiFi. My iOS phone transferred the file in maybe 10-minutes or less.

Ok, weird. I am connected via both, but it is stuck at 87%. One of those random BMW things I guess. The phone says it is uploading and the car says... well, nothing except “preparing”. I’m sure it will finish one day.

this is an update to my own post in case someone else is having the same issue:

07/2020 takes a lot longer to initially recognize your phone (if you haven't driven overnight or in a couple of days) than previous iDrive versions. I just got in today and went for a short trip. at first it gave me the usual prompt to 'connect a new device' but within 30 seconds it recognized my phone and started to play the last song I played on my playlist. a subsequent trip recognized the phone immediately and worked as before (hopefully it stays that way).

The only thing I did different was in the overnight period between drives, I closed all the apps, restarted my phone, and disabled auto-joining the bmw wifi ssid.

It took forever for me too. It stayed on 7% for a few drives jumping to 9% after a few more days of short drives. During those drives (15 to 30 minutes) I never noticed it move.

However, and this may be purely coincidental, but I usually stream Apple Music via CarPlay nonstop. I turned it off one day to listen to ESPN on XM and the percentages started going up a lot. In fact, it finished within 20 minutes of driving that day (9% to complete) whereas before I couldn’t even see it move. As soon as I got home, I put it in park and did the update, which took 20 minutes while the car was off and me sitting inside.

So, maybe the upload is reduced while CarPlay is actively streaming?

FYI

The "Pause/ Un-pause" gesture now fully works with CarPlay. Previously, it would just work for Pause, but then you had to manually unpause it. Not anymore, they fixed it.

So mine has transferred to the car but it's been weeks and I'm still waiting for it to be ready for install. I keep checking every few days but still nothing. The car is used frequently and therefore can see it relating to the battery being below 80%. Other face similar issue and any idea how to trigger this?

if it has fully transferred the update to the car i'm not sure why yours hasnt updated yet. I know certain pre-conditions have to be met before it'll start installing. mine started installing right after it was 100% transferred to the vehicle. I had also driven it for about 15 miles so then engine and all the fluids and presumably the battery and all that were fully charged.

Mine took forever, similar to yours. Then after a week or so it just said it was ready. It may be a battery level thing: this pandemic has me using the car only for short trips.
