I have done port installed accessories on my 335 and M2 before.
My CA said that the X5's built in SC don't go to port first and thus exhausts would have to be installed by the dealer. Is this true? |

From my understanding - the MPE is dealer installed. Is the MPE for your X5 40i? Please share sound clip when you do get it

I have an X5 on order right now. Wish it could be added at port. I'll definitely share videos if I move forward with the MPE. I have it on my M2 and it's insane, in a good way. On the 335 the MPE was nice from outside the car but barely noticeable inside.

Still waiting on an install from someone so I can hear the tunes .. although there is an iOS app by BMW called M PERFORMANCE SOUND PLAYER .. where you can download the sound clip of an x5 40i and compare the MPE vs stock sound clips
I do have the G06 with M sport exhaust on mine factory installed and sounds awesome on Sport+ mode .. but still wanted to check out the MPE for possible upgrade Just as I was told by the dealer and bmw website .. MPE only fits 40i's G05 and G06 and is not made for the M50i .. someone told me the sound would be somehow similar or a bit louder than the M50i in terms of tone but no power gains whatsoever .. just pops and farts Price wise its about $3k on bmwusa's website |

From an exhaust? No.
Gotta replace the cats and/or downpipes for that. |

Any updates? Curious if anyone pulled the trigger and bought one?

That's not entirely true. I had a vehicle with a 2" oem catback and I replaced it with a 3" aftermarket catback and gained +34 wheel hp and +41 torque on the dyno. Also it definitely felt faster and quicker. But yes, if you're same pipes with similar size pipes; it's mostly sound differences. |

I had this exhaust installed on my 40i before delivery. Here's all the info:

Exhaust
Recently bought the JB4 (not installed yet), BMC air filter and a DS-1 catted down pipe (on order). So now I’m looking for an exhaust and am stuck between FI and a MPE system. FI retains OEM valve control but from what I’ve read valve control on the X5 is done by rpm range opposed to being in different drive modes. And I can’t use the OBD port for control since the JB4 needs a dedicated connection to it… can’t use a splitter. Has anyone here heard or have an FI exhaust installed on their X5? Any input would be appreciated.
