I would actually consider the Range Rover to be one of the first modern cars to have a floating roof. There's also a Chevy hatchback from Europe in 2009 that features a "floating roof" similar to the i3, RX, Maxima etc.

Seems really strange to have two concepts now, especially of the same car, this seems more like a prototype since its close to production and on the streets. Either way, I am curious to see what the official specs will be.

BMW is quoted expecting 300 miles of range EPA, however, this could change as this is now the second time the range projections have been lowered before the car has been tested.

No, the iX as presented is the final exterior (and I believe interior) design. The model is in its final development phase, BMW might not have locked down the exact battery capacity (or maybe rather how much of it to expose to the driver) etc. and will report those later.

Can't wait for the Batman themed license plates to match.

that seems to be a general design constraint of bevs: No engine, so shorter bonnet, as low a drag coefficient as possible to help range, so less steep windshield. That leads to a minivan-kinda form, see also the skoda enyaq or the vw id.4.
Watch out for VW Group

Lots of compelling BEV's coming

The competition is going to be absolutely fierce

The Chinese & Koreans alone are planning to divide and conquer

It's distinctly BMW at least and I think more favorably looking than the Tesla. Tesla lacks individuality in the sense all models look the same and apparently have aspirations to improve reliability. NIO is going to be the up and coming in China and Europe so as long as BMW can out perform and design better looking products, I am happy for the future BMW i program.

I wouldn't call it an additional constraint, it's rather a constraint removed with EV allowing more flexibility in design. They can still draw a long bonnet when they want, but it's no longer required.

I can't stand behind the MPV architecture behind it. Wish it was more of a true SUV.

The car looks great. The front sucks......yuck! And of course the environmental issues with electric cars are largely underestimated. Just not allowed to say that in Germany.....media shitstorm guaranteed.

Yes indeed

Better order that M-Sport package on the iX

However it's way too conservative and is extremely boring for a modern BMW

Really is funny to watch the fanboys flip out initially and then fall in love. It's almost like y'all will buy literally anything with a bmw badge on it. Same weirdness surrounding Apple gadgets.

I thought I was a fanboy but apparently I have fallen out of the reality distortion field.

The exterior of this vehicle is hideous. It will always be hideous. BMW knows it's hideous. The marketing campaign is hideous in its own right.

Stop trying to make hideous work Gretchen.

That's why I lease our Model Y...all the comments are true, but it still fun to drive.

I'm sure we'll switch to a EV BMW/Porsche when the lease is up - and the charging infrastructure is more developed.

You were smart to lease it

And BTW Tesla Superchargers are second to none
