Can anyone confirm if the new G05 X5M carbon fibre "winged tipped" mirrors are covers? Can they be purchased and fitted to all G05's.

My dealer is telling me I would have to buy the complete mirrors which is obviously a crazy expensive way of getting the same mirrors

You can buy OEM carbon caps for our cars, but they don’t have the winglet. https://www.getbmwparts.com/oem-part...ft-51162446965. These are over $700 and guaranteed to fit because they are OEM.

You can buy fakes caps with the winglets, but I have no idea on the fitment. https://autotecknic.com/products/aut...-g06-x6-g07-x7. Cheaper, though.

So I do have the oem carbon covers currently specified but I'm trying to figure out if the winged X5M style are also purely a cap/cover and therefore would they fit on a regular G05 X5.

I guess why I'm saying is could I buy the X5M winglet wing mirror caps and fit them on my mirrors

The OEM X5M carbon mirror caps won't fit on our cars unless you change the outer ring. It's probably easier (and a heck of a lot cheaper) to just go aftermarket.

Not true. I have just the covers without replacing the outer ring. I bought them off of eBay but now IND also sells them.

Yes and yes. Super easy

There are a couple of YouTube videos showing install: Some take the mirrors out, the other ones does not. I went with the "does not", and had no issues with the install.
