Black Badging

I don't have them off as yet but that I plan on doing it with a hair dryer, dental floss and some body eraser. From what I have heard a 180 grit sandpaper should do the job.

Another option I may try is plastidip. For that I don't need to take the badges off.

I used dental floss and some cleaner. Came off easy.

So no need for any kind of "goo gone" or "de-solv-it"? Hairdryer? Sorry never done it before but about to attempt it based on some YouTube vids i found online

I used dental floss and believe it or not I put a little varsol on a microfibre cloth because I didn't have any goo gone. I never used a hairdryer to remove it but I did use the hairdryer against the new badges to get the adhesive to bond against the paint.

Y'all must have some industrial strength dental floss or something... ended up using a plastic scraper, goo gone, then some polish to clean it up. So far i just removed the "xdrive" portion of the badge to clean it up a bit. Will probably swap the others (X5, 50i) to black at some point.

I'm not going to paint them. I just removed the xdrive part of the badging because it looks a bit better

Sorry, misunderstood. I wanted to debadge it entirely but my wife overruled

I got the exact same ones for a 40i and to be honest I am disappointed. I like the italic X and 40i. I am thinking of selling them on here if somebody wants it or who knows maybe try putting it on and it may grow on me. I just like the bigger lettering that is on this X5.

Damn you guys.....

Definitely have to spring for the Ind black badges. The chrome ones don’t work with the black trim on my white car with a black grill and M trim

Blacking out my wheels too. Will post pics when done

Went through the same thing. Couldn't stop converting over to black. Exhaust tips where done at the dealership.
