I went ahead and tinted my Sky lounge pano

I tinted my sky lounge pano roof this week. It did not change the look at all as far as I can tell. But makes a huge difference in the heat rejection. Much better now. The place that does the tint said they have done several and have had no issues with cracking. I used Xpel XR plus 70%. That’s the same as the windshield it’s virtually clear. Hope this helps someone who is thinking about doing the same thing.

Good to know; thanks. I wanted it done at the dealership, but their tint company recommended against it. I might have to track someone down to complete it now.

I’ve read that there are companies recommending against it but I’ve had several cars done and haven’t had any issues so I just don’t see why this would be different. We are in the Houston area so it’s almost a necessity. Closing the shade is not even close to the same thing.

I think it was 350ish. Had a bunch of stuff done at the same time so don’t totally remember.

Is it just the image or did it actually make the light capturing spots more pronounced?

It looks the same to me. Definitely did not take away from it. That’s what I was worried about. I never really gave this option any consideration but I will say we really like it.

Did you tint your roof glass? I live in the woodlands so maybe close to you. if so, where did you go. I have indeed read that expel XR Plus is the way to go. thanks!

I know it wasn't directed to me and this shop is not near the Woodlands but I use Gulf Coast Auto Shield for all my tint and PPF needs. They are the best! Tell them APEX referred you and I'm sure John (owner) will hook it up.

I am going through the dealer so it’s on them if it does crack. Why would it crack?? I will have ivory seats and want a little more tint during the day to cut down on the bright sun during the day but hope it won’t affect the night look either. I’m looking forward to the ambience. Any thoughts on a little darker glass? Did anyone offer any insight into this? Thanks!!

My dealer quoted 499 but its warranties through bmw service dept as the service was offered through them through the detailing company so im willing to pay a little markup for the reassurance if it being on them if so nothing happens.
