Just ordered my X5 50E and had a question about what charger I should get. I bought the BMW wallbot but then the salesman said he would not recommend it. What are the rest of you getting?

I got the 240V "pigtail cord" that plugs into the charger that comes with the 50e. The 50e as you probably know comes with a 120V pigtail. It's a 5 second change from the 120V to the 240V. I am averaging a little over 3 hours to charge from zero electric range to 100% with the 240V.

I got the dealer at paper signing to throw in the 240V pigtail cord for free. Your results may vary. But for me, I would pay for it if I had to.

I have an older Tesla Wall Connector but I'm planning to upgrade to the Tesla Universal Wall Connector when my 50e is delivered. It has a built-in J1772 adapter and gives you some future-proofing with the NACS connector. Since I park & charge outside (no garage) I don't want a charger that has to plug into a 240V outlet.

I’m using a Pulsar Wallbox purchased from Costco. Works great.

On the 50e did any of you have a positive negotiating experience with the dealer for % off MSRP. Im seeing a wide range of deals here in the forum

I got 8% off my build using a broker, but it seems deals people are getting are dependent on region.

I went to two dealers in Atlanta and both told me they were holding fast at sticker. I ordered one and got an out the door price…my car just entered production today, so super excited. I just hope that when I go to pick it up and do he paperwork that they don’t then try and tack on the “protection” coating they add at the dealership and all of the other “dealer” fees.

Just tell them not to do anything. I picked mine up from United in Alpharetta undetailed. Didn’t want them to put the swirl special on the new paint or anything on the inside.

So far so great! zero issues. Granted, I'm only 500 miles in (I WFH). I try to drive in Sport often just to get miles on the ICE to get past the break-in, but I've still got a little more than a quarter of the original tank.

I was able to do 7% off MSRP here in Houston after negotiating with 3 of them. A forum member here from Dallas helped as I used his Sales guy to threaten Houston guys.

8/6: Order Date
8/7: Production Order
8/12: Moved to 150 status
8/24: Production Date assigned

Looking forward to receiving. Hopefully doesnt get caught up in all of the Stop Sale issues for the IBD recall that this forum has popped up!

My 2025 50e hs moved to status 153--on the assembly line! Prod Date remains 8/24. Hoping the IBS controller is updated and there will be no Stop Sale when it gets to the dealer!

Welcome to the forum. It uses the B58TU2 which is the third gen.

FWIW I purchased an ordered 50e mostly loaded that arrived at my local dealer and buyer backed out. 50e is a hard to find vehicle in ATL area so I jumped on it having 90% of my choices in my build code. Got 7% off plus military and a 240v adapter with a Permaplate protection thrown in.
