Not sure it would be different for European buyers but yes, you should go to 150 about 2 weeks prior to production date. I switched to 150 and got my VIN exactly 14 days before my ProdDate.

That’s what is worrying me, my estimated production date is less than 2 weeks away, but still no VIN or status 150. Something is going to go wrong there?

Strange. Yesterday my order changed status from 112 to 150. Got my VIN and saw the production date by using F12 process.

Any production date you were given at this point was just a guess/made up. At this time you should just be concerned with the production week. The 14 days varies and you have 17 from now until the end of week 19.

I understand, but it seems as if we are outliers from the norm still.

You and hundreds or others. The weeks have 7 days not 4.

You also could have been pushed back like many others have been, that changes all of the time depending on supply issues which are still major.

Would it be abnormal for dealer to get allocation this late in the month? After waiting on dealer since early January, with no production number, after rattling some cages this past Tuesday (and being told I was behind was one other order in the order bank) all of the sudden, by Wednesday evening I had a production number. Still 111 status, of course

Mine came through Wednesday too. Perhaps a bunch opened up.

No, allocations have usually been issued at the end of the month.

So genius confirmed my car has gone back to status 111, and production is estimated now for week 26, a 7 week slippage.

I am actually losing faith I’d ever get this car, and I think I really will have to cancel, I don’t believe anyone else on here has had this degree of slippage.

I figured that was the case and you would find out when you talked to them again. I think you will see others slipping back further and you won't be alone.

Maybe it’s cos I’m right hand drive market?

It’s a big slippage, might be the last straw for me, it would put me well over a year waiting. And no guarantee it won’t slip even further.

No, the assembly line mixes them all up. You will see a right hand drive X5 and right after that a left hand drive X5 and after that an X6 and so on. As long as the parts are there they are built.

Just unlucky for me then.

What I’m struggling to understand is, many week 20 50es are gone to 150 status, but my week 19 one has been kicked out. Why would they not build the week 19 cars before week 20, even if it’s only notional and not guaranteed, it would make sense to run in sequence. What’s the logic?

That is not how production works. They use JIT so parts are allocated to specific vehicles. If there is a delay on receiving/ordering/quality/etc. then those vehicles are pushed back. For some reason they can't secure them for your, and likely many other, builds. We have already had vehicles in 150 status and there was a shipping problem, those vehicles were pushed back over a month while waiting for the parts to arrive. They will never take parts allocated to a future build and use them. That would just keep pushing back the problem rather than addressing it.

But it’s actually just pushing out a week 19 production vehicle which is putting the problem in the future instead. How does Just in time skip say, the last vehicle in week 19 but complete the first in week 20, assuming same spec. Is that logical?

No, you are misunderstanding it. It is perfectly logical, and absolutely required by the system, to push that week 19 vehicle out if there is a part supply issue. Parts are allocated to a specific vehicle not a week. If you took parts allocated from web 20 vehicles to build week 19 then you would have to take from week 21 to build week 20, week 22 to build week 21 and so forever. That would make no sense to delay all future builds. They delay just the builds that are affected and all future builds are fine.

I understand what you are saying, but it effectively penalises people who are longest in the queue. It is what it is.

My car becomes a future build, as it has already, as it was pushed out previously, and it didn’t turn out fine. And it may possibly happen again. So, I end up waiting, indefinitely effectively.
