Debadging a 3 yr old car

Hi there, I have a black 2021 x5 and wanted to debadge the s-drive/40i but i'm worried that since the car is 3 years old that i will see a difference in the paint where the badge used to be? Kinda like a ghost image of the old badge? Has anyone done this 3 or 4 years later and have not traces of the old badge?

thanks

I have. 2020. Heat up the badges with a heat gun (LOW HEAT) and about 6” away and constantly moving. Use fishing line to run behind the badge. Then use a wheel eraser at low speed and do not press hard with the eraser. Let the wheel friction do the job at low speed.

Use a light amount of goof off. Then I used cleaner and clay bar in circular motion. After, wax (no need for an orbital buffer) with a clean, soft micro fiber.

I thought I took a pic of after. But didn’t. Can take one tomrrow and update. But not a trace of adhesive or any sort of indication that a badge was on.

I also measured before I removed in case I need to put it back if I sold the vehicle.

Good luck. Just take your time.

Cool thanks. So was there any traces of the old badge?

I Debadged my 2016 x5 Alpine white around 2018. No ghosting or any issues. Hated it on the front doors.
I had the dealer debadge my when new 2022 as well on arctic gray.
No issues.
Took off everything on the back.
