Bad paint?

Hello
I just received my x5 50e and on several panels (more than 50%) of the car the paint feels like sandpaper.
Of note, thw car did receive a ceramic coating at the dealership…

Did I get a car with a bad paint job?

What are my options?

Thank you

Doubtful that the paint is bad. More likely is that the Ceramic install was sloppy. Take it to the dealer and show them.

Should be very smooth, especially with the ceramic coating. I'd take it back to the dealer and have them address.

Orange peel is common on almost all cars with a clear coat but it is usually not rough feeling and is often not noticeable except under certain angles and conditions. I also agree that the ceramic coating is the problem.

Possible that this is overspray from bad paintshop work to touch up transport damage. Important that you eliminate that, and raise holy hell with the dealer if it is the case. Is any of the roughness on the glass, or just the paint?

If not I agree with others that it is probably sloppy detailing work from the dealer.

Take a look see some time at the high school drop out meth heads covered with tatoos who are the detail boys at your friendly neighborhood car dealer. These punks could care less about you or your hundred thousand dollar BMW.
Those $1,800 dealer "ceramic" jobs are done by a loser with a dirty rag in his hand.

I appreciate the feedback. The “sandpaper feel” was caused by overspray from wheels I had powder coated. The issue has been resolved.

Nobody at the dealership really cares about you as a customer or your car. We are just $$$ to them.

💯! And all the “its all about relationship with your dealership” talk is also nonsense. The single goal of each dealer is to maximize profit from any transaction

Glad you got it sorted. The fact that somebody claims to have “powder coated” your wheels while they were on your car is a huge red flag though. Hope you’re getting refunded whatever you paid.

Definitely a case for Lionel Hutz - LOL !! I was scratching my head on that one, did they powder coat the break pads and rotors also ?? ...IDK, I'm no installer, but that would be a first I heard, applied while on...but who knows.
