Ah ha, a fun flat story here? Mind telling us about it? I'm not a run flat fan but do see that if you have them AND a spare, its the best scenario.

Nice ! Good that you have some extra space next to your parking spot. Would have been difficult. Just enough space for the golf GTI. Do I spot a wheel chair sign peeking under the car?

Not that much of a story. Just before they submitted my custom order, I said STOP - going to make one minor change. He rolled his eyes and said, you've got run flats and can limp home in case tire drops to zero air pressure plus you're going to loose the storage space.

I retorted and adamantly said - for peace of mind, better safe than sorry. Plus if the tire accidentally gets shred up - gonna wreck my wheel, no thanks.

In the end, I could have probably limped home, but sometimes you gotta go with your gut instincts.

Best part was I was in the Express Lane. If you call #77 in Virginia, VA State Trooper sent a Safety Assist Vehicle to put cones and lights up so you don't get swiped by the speeding motorists on the Express Lane. They also installed the spare for no charge as part of the service. Other bonus was BMW/Pirelli covered the replacement OEM tire free of charge since the X5 was under 10K miles.

Personally, I believe you made the right decision, especially for the measly $150 they charge for the option. Do you know what caused the RF tire to lose air?

There's so much debris on the road these days. Drove over a bolt or something that punctured the right rear tire left shoulder tread and came out during the drive. It was a rapid drop in air pressure and feel the air suspension compensate while driving at 74mph.

The beauty of these cars that can keep you safe and sane while something like that happens at that speed! Glad you were safe and only the tire took the hit.

Summer setup on 747M

Got them swapped just before the curfew hit Bavaria...had to do one grocery haul trip to the supermarket yesterday (wearing face mask and gloves) as online stores cannot deliver anymore (delivery slots booked up for weeks), but that's the only time I drove in the last 2 weeks.

Anyways, 22 inch 747M rims looking great, where it is sitting out on my parking lot. Don't feel any significant harshness in the ride compared to the winter setup on 20s, however with the 315 rears I do hear more road noise -- will probably order acoustic windows on my next one.

Looks great! How difficult are those to install? And how much lower than stock did you set them at?

Took less than an hour. With the suspension set on the highest level you can easily access the front and rear links without even using a jack.

How did the tire warrant work with pirelli?
I had a flat on my third day of owning the car and it cost me $600 to replace. 22"

Dr.Jekyll, how do they actually work and where do they install onto? Do you have a link to where you bought them that might explain it? What is the lowest you can go and still drive the car?
