07/2019.55 here and I don't have it either. Mine worked (need to enable in iDrive).

Bumping this question... can towing functionality be coded via Bimmercode or Esys yet?

Yep, when I did mine last week I only had 2 of the 4 listed items (I forget which ones specifically). I changed the 2 I did have and it worked fine. I did notice when I first drove the car the first time ADV wasn't working properly. It wasn't showing other cars or side lanes. Once I actually turned on the Assisted Driving Mode (cruise control) for the first time the ADV started working properly and has since stayed that way whether I have AD Mode running or not.

Thinking about ADV, the cafd must be the same for all cars, it's just the settings that vary. Therefore the variance is only in the connection type.

I expect those that can't see all 4 codes cannot do so because their coding setup doesn't support viewing all 4 codes.

I don't know about bimmercode, but the only 100% way I can guarantee that those codes are not trimmed, is to use esysx with latest psdzdata for your target istep, and a version of esysx that has mappings for that psdzdata version.

I did the three I have and it seems to be working fine. I will have to see how useful it is but it looks neat anyway.

No, definitely not on Bimmercode.

Maybe Esys can code "Towing mode"?

I've mentioned this a few times in other threads, I would really recommend getting the dealer to do any tow hitch installation on your G05, including coding. These cars have advanced and complex electronic control systems, so you really want to make sure anything retrofitted (even a BMW OEM hitch) is integrated properly, and thus my recommendation to get it installed and coded by the dealer.

Also guarantees your factory warranty. So hopefully you get a feeling for the benefits.

Might be a little more expensive using the dealer, but worth it for these cars.

Thanks, I've seen that input elsewhere. Unfortunately BMW does not make the G05 towing kit available aftermarket yet and BMW dealers won't generally install aftermarket parts. So while it would maybe be ideal to do that, it is not currently an option for me (and I assume most people).

Mine is a BMW OEM, at least for here in Australia.

TOWBAR PART No: A888 2000 978
TONGUE PART No: 9032 736 01010.

See attached pic. It was installed by my dealer.

This might work.

In esys, no launcher/esysx needed, you could add 3AC to FA and do a full car (all ECU) coding, or at the minimum code the following ECU. I say do a full ECU coding as some models may have different ECU to mine and therefore the list below may not be exhaustive:
13F5
211B
29B7
3D0E
3D14
3E52
4146
42C1
42F1
430A
4508
7083
8081

Adding tow/hitch changes a LOT of coding. While it is possible to FDL code these settings individually I'll only post the specific settings if someone really wants to do it that way.

FDL coding so many settings also opens up additional risk. VO Coding is the safest most complete option in this case.

Quick question- I had the iDrive 7 update to enable the 3d surround view on the connected app. After the software it worked without an issue. When they updated the software it wiped my coding. Recoded it, but now the 3d has stopped working. Anyone have any experience with which coding option may interfere with this? The other connected functions work, just not the 3d view. It says failed to activate cameras. I would like to get that functionality back and do not want to go aback to the dealer and have them reflash it again. Thanks!

I have enabled ASD using the most recent BimmerCode update but can't see any menu or settings available in my MY2019 50i. Any ideas?

Not sure that is still true. There is a BMW P/N for the hitch, controller, and wiring harness. Which means this should be a dealer installed retrofit (which would include the proper coding). Check here for the part numbers.....

https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=71_1114

Don't let the generic diagram fool you, the part numbers are for the US hitch, which is a different design than the EU hitch. The catch is that a dealer installed OEM hitch setup will have a reduced towing capacity over a factory installed hitch (not sure I understand why though - could be the lawyers talking)....

So I just took delivery of an X7 40i and I am looking to do a little coding. I have been lurking over here since the G05 and G07 are essentially identical from a coding perspective and the G05 coding scene is a bit larger....

Regarding the M display, has anyone dug a bit deeper to see why the Drive Mode is no longer displayed? M cars DO come with different drive modes, including ECO modes (much to the dismay of driver enthusiast "purists"). My F80 M3 has them and while I have not seen the cockpit of one of the new G-series M cars in person yet to verify, I would be shocked if the new G-series M cars don't have them as BMW wants to cater to a wide base of customers for their M-cars. But back to the M display coding discussion....

I coded this using BimmerCode. After coding, when I changed the different Drive Modes, it was clear that there was "something" happening in the cluster, as the screen changed very slightly when changing drive modes. For example, the triangle that indicates the car's position on the map in the center of the cluster changed to blue when in ECO mode. There were other very subtle differences on the display when changing different Drive Modes as well.

This leads me to believe the cluster module (DKOMBI) is "looking" for additional data in order to display the different Driver Modes. Therefore, it is possible that there are other parameters (either in the cluster module or another module) that need to be changed in order for the Drive Mode to display properly in the M display. Of course, if additional parameters are found to turn on Drive Mode in the M display, it could be different than the non-M display. For example, instead of the words for each Drive Mode, the background color of the M display could change based on the different Drive Mode selected. Right now I would be happy with some type of very noticeable display change for the different modes (the navigation triangle I mentioned above is a bit to subtle for me).

So any thoughts from the more experienced G-series coders?

Bimmercode just updated to 2.18.0-6475 on Android, and I've noticed the the head-unit ECU module now supports Expert mode.

I recently coded Sports Plus through the Body Domain Controller (BDC) for my G05, since the 30d/Diesel doesn't come with Sports+ from the factory. After coding the BDC, I found Sports+ could be selected from the buttons on the gear-shift panel, but NOT from the head-unit (center head-display). It still showed Sports+ in the Instrument Cluster though.

Yesterday I coded Sports+ into the head-unit ECU using Expert mode; based on the recent update to Bimemrcode, and now everything lines up-including showing Sports+ on the center head display.

So to cut a long story short, to code Sports+ - I had to code both the BDC and HDU ECUs, so yes it would be safe to assume you need to code multiple ECUs for driving modes.

You shouldn't have to code anything in the Instrument Cluster ECUs though.

Under HU_MGU (Head unit) ECU I changed two modules:

"3008 FES" module:
- FES_SPORT_EXPERT change to aktiv
- SPORT_CONF_ATTENUATION_SPORTPLUS change to active
- SPORT_CONF_STEERING_SPORTPLUS change to active

"300A SARAH" module:
- Spurwechselassistent change to gen_1

So overall procedure is:

Body Domain Controller (BDC) ECU:-
3221 PfFesMaster module:
- FesPiaDefaultSportWorldMode: change to 0x02 (SportExpert, aka Sports Plus)
- FesSportWorldMode1: change to 0x02 (SportExpert, aka Sports Plus)

HU_MGU ECU:-
3008 FES module:
- FES_SPORT_EXPERT change to aktiv
- SPORT_CONF_ATTENUATION_SPORTPLUS change to active
- SPORT_CONF_STEERING_SPORTPLUS change to active

300A SARAH module:
- Spurwechselassistent change to gen_1

That is good to hear. I tried to code Sport Plus (and Comfort Plus) this weekend only to find out that the HU_MGU ECU did not support Expert Mode yet. Good to hear it is coming (I am on iOS which always appears to lag Android updates).

But just to be clear, you can now see the different Drive Modes with the M Dash display coded? That is what I was really after with my post above since I know others have already coded Sport Plus with E-Sys. Can you show a few pics?

On a related note, I just purchased the Ethernet to Lightning adapter to use with my OBD2 ENET cable so that I could access some of the additional ECUs in my X7. The connection is blazing fast when compared to using my WiFi OBD2 connector. The same is true about the connection speed when using BimmerLink too.

So for the Apple iOS folks, if you already have an ENET cable, I would recommend getting the Ethernet to Lightning adapter as a wired connection will always be more stable and reliable than a wireless one (even though the current wireless OBD2 adapter options still do work well). I purchased the Ethernet to Lightning adapter recommended on the BimmerCode site.

Lightning to Ethernet Adapter:
  • much faster than Bluetooth OBDII adapters = true
  • more or same reliability = not necessarily true; depending on random state of iOS at any given time, the Lightning Ethernet adapter can be intermittent

Fair enough. But so far my one coding experience with the Ethernet adapter was a very positive (and fast) one as my current WiFi adapter is an older Vgate one that is no longer made (but still compatible with the current BimmerCode and BimmerLink apps). If I have any concern with the Ethernet adapter, it is the long term reliability as technically, it is not a "MiFi" adapter and a few reviews have indicated poor build quality. The ENET/lighting adapter combo is definitely a lot faster. I can walk through all menus in BC and code my preferences in 5 minutes or so. Compare that with MX+ taking ~5 minutes just to read and code BDC.

However, I had 3 instances where the cable combo failed to connect. Is this what you had experienced LexxM3 ? I had to disconnect and re-initiate diagnostics mode again. But once it works it is consistent.

I never experienced disconnection or issues yet with Mx+. It is just slow but fits the small storage box by the driver side.
