742M on a BMW X5 45E

Hi all,

I did a little research but didn't find the answer and I apologize in advance as I'm not super knowledgeable in cars/wheels.

I am really interested in purchasing a 2022 BMW X5xdrive45E with the M sport calipers and love the 742M wheels. Would there be any issues fitting these 22" wheels on this car? I see its an option for 40i and 50i but not for the 45E.

I also am checking with the dealership and they said they would confirm with a tech but I haven't heard back yet.

Thanks in advance!

funny how EU-based 45e can option 22" but not U.S.-based 45e. the going theory has to do with run flat tires being 'required' for 45e residing in the U.S. due to no spare tire, and since there are no 22" run flat tires, the size is not offered as an option. however in the EU, run flat tires aren't 'required', so they can option 22" wheels which come with non-run flat tires

Okay so it sounds like the 22" 742M should fit without an issue, I'm willing to take the risk if I get a flat. Most of my driving is locally. I appreciate the insight!

There is no problem putting 22" wheels on the 45e.

I installed 742M’s on my 45e and having no issues so far. Only 400 miles in, and still getting solid range as well. Will update if I start to see a drop off. It’s interesting because if you spec out a 45e on the BMW EU site, it doesn’t show the 22” negatively impacting range.

I haven’t taken a nice picture yet, because waiting on one more mod, but here’s how it stands today.

They look nice! I'm looking to get these for my new 45e too. Could you let me know where you bought them? This wheel is not available on BWMUSA's website. Thanks!

I just made the swap from 740s to 742s. I noticed there is no option in idrive for the 22" for tire settings. Are you all using the "other" option?

You just have to make sure that the tire's Outside Diameter indication on the iDrive closely resembles those that you have installed.
