tire options for 21"

Looking for options available for 21" tires. RF or AS. not concern with performance or type at the moment, just want to generate a list of tires to select from. Tirerack was a bit confusing from me

Front: 9.5Jx21” 275/40 R21
Rear: 10.0Jx21” 315/35 R21

Currently can only find these:

Pirelli P Zero- summer RF
Pirelli Scorpion Verde - all season RF

AFAIK, Pirelli (or anyone else) doesn't make an AS RF 21" tire. At least I could never find them for my Audi.

We have the Pirelli Scorpion Verde AS non-RF on my wife’s X5. We ordered the spare tire option because of the lack of AS RF 21” tire options.

I can't seem to find any all season sets for the 21's. There are plenty of 275/40/21s and 315/40/21s but no 315/35/21. Just summers. Getting concerned that I might have to by a set of 20" rims with a square setup and toss the 21" with summer rubber in the garage for the winter.

Yes - I'm in exactly the same boat! Does anyone have an update on this?

I just ordered a G06 and I love the 741M wheel, but I didn't order it because I'm in upstate NY and need all seasons for sure. My order hasn't started production yet so I can still add them if I find an appropriate all season tire, but I'm trying to avoid two sets of wheels.

The ONLY option that I've seen are the Scorpion Verde's AS and they are not cheap...reviews are mixed on them but they really are the only All Season you can buy in 315/35/21s. If you want to stretch 295s to fit, there are a lot of options. I saw somewhere else in the site that someone stretched a 275 and said it worked but I'm not sure I want to do that. You can find the Verdes if you search around - Tire Rack has them for $600 for the rears!

By the time I buy 4 Verdes and have them mounted with TPMS it will cost me $2000.

I think I may just buy 20" BMW 740M wheels and put on winters or good all seasons and swap the rims with the 21's each season. It might actually be cheaper in the long run.

Just replaced the worn out pirellis on the staggered 21" setup. Had to improvise not willing to pay the price for a brand new set, so got a set of barely used Michelin pilot sport 4s.
Went with 265 40 21 in the front and got lucky with the same place having 295 35 21 in stock...so downsized in diameter a little bit but kept the rotational difference within spec.

Just a heads up that you dont have to limit yourself so much to the stock sizing on the staggered setups. Have seen many more winter and AS options in the above sizes too. Dont need them in FL.
Btw total cost for a set of 4 was <500 with 7-8" of thread depth. To each his own I guess.

+5 Aspect Ratio?

Wondering if anyone has tried, or considered going up 5 on the tire aspect ratio for the 21” wheels as a way to ditch factory run-flats. Looks like Tirerack has some decent non run-flat tire options at 275/45R21 (Front) & 315/40R21 (Rear).

We were considering non RF, since we do have a spare tire. Our current RF is not bad at all, so might stay with all season RF, instead of summer RF, at the moment.
Unless someone says non RF's comfort is worth the risk (extra work if theres an issue)

So you have 265 40 21 in the front and 295 35 21 in the back?
Can you confirm those sizes fit? TireRack dont recommend it.

So I am exactly in the same boat.
I prefer the 21" style (S01XD) style 744 instead of 20" style 738. I worked with a discount tire nearby my home today to get a quote for Pirelli Scorpion Verde A/S RFTs for the staggered wheels.

The technician there suggested to buy the TPMS sensors($60 x4) in addition to the below highlighted tires. The total cost for tires+TPMS+tax = $2100.

If I get the TPMS sensors, he mentioned the swapping of tires two times per year will be free of cost. Otherwise if they need to work with TPMS sensor during swapping, it will be $160 for labor for every appointment for swapping the tires.

Still not seeing a 21" all season run flat tire listed anywhere - look like summer performance everywhere I looked, or AS non-RF. Do you have a link?

Discount tires has Pirelli A/S for both front and rear sizes.
If you don't give your vehicle detail on the website, the rear tire shows up in pirelli brand in A/S option. The rear tires have VO in the end and that's why it filters it out if you put in your BMW details.

The discount tyre representative on his console showed me these tires both front and back sizes and his system shows compatibility with 2020 BMW X5 compatibility.

Pirelli 21" AS tires are available in all the sites I searched - just not run-flats. Unless I missed something. These, for example, are summer/snow tires:

https://www.discounttire.com/buy-tir...-verde/p/28795

https://tires.tirerack.com/search?as...w=21"+run+flat

And these are all season tires, none of which are available as 21" run flats:

https://www.discounttire.com/search?text=21"+all+season

https://tires.tirerack.com/search?as...21"+all+season

Oh boy. I was so much fixated on A/S aspect of it that I didn't notice they are non runflats. Thank you so much. My status still shows scheduled for production. I was able to add a spare tire option.

Phew. That was close. Thank you very much.

You're welcome! I was on the hunt for a long time with my previous Audi Q7 for 21" AS run flats with no success (no option for a spare even available in the Audi - just a tire repair kit). Pirelli didn't even have 21" all seasons for some time, so maybe there's hope in the future for run flat AS.

I am just amazed why these manufacturers feel these wheels (whatever be your car) will never require RFs. Beats me.
I think I saw some RF options for front wheels and (now I stand corrected) not for the rears.

Okay. So I am in a little bit of a pickle.
Yesterday when I realized that the Scorpion Verde are not RF, I scrambled to add the spare tire to my build. My AS called me today to tell me that my order already entered 150 state and is in production queue.

So now I cant add the space saver tire for doing the A/S Scorpion Verde 21".
What are my options? The way I see it I will have to keep a donut in my trunk, not great but I can live with it. Before I start researching, does anybody have any pointers?
I hope I am not hijacking this thread. I feel its still in the context of 21" setups.

You can always purchase the spear tire/jack and place it in the original placement under the cargo. Down side is, it might take a bit to take the carpet out to make it fit. Also the cost of the oem spare tire is pretty pricey. Search for it, there was a thread with more details.
