Porsche counters the M50i with their new V8 453hp Cayenne GTS for 2021 but..../
Porsche counters BMW M50i but is short on HP at 453. This is the sweet spot and is using a V8. I would have looked the GTS if it was available when looking but still would have gone 50i M-Sport for performance and design.

Yeah, Porsche options can add tens of thousands very easily and their entire model lineup is at a premium and usually priced one tier higher than a comparable model elsewhere.
Also, maintenance costs at Porsche dealers is eye opening, even if you’re use to MB or BMW dealer maintenance costs. Regardless, though, it’s very nice but I would choose the X5M if the costs were the same. |

Full service on the M50i here in the U.K. is £847 from memory and every 15k Miles I believe. Full service on my Porsche (Turbo S) was £670 and that’s every 20k. Two year Porsche extended warranty was £2,200 No idea what a BMW warranty is but the Porsche service is certainly cheaper.

It's good to see Porsche is back with V8 in the GTS version of the Cayenne. I always thought the GTS was the most balanced of the Cayenne variants. Turbo look, turbo handling, V8 before the 2015 refresh. However, in my opinion the M50i has no competition, for cost, performance, etc.

One thing that Porsche still allows (that Audi, BMW and Mercedes don't) is a la carte options, they may nickel and dime you for them, but they allow it. You want the cheapest trim but the best radio and all the suspension upgrades, no problem. Really don't like how BMW is going the way of all mass market vehicles and forcing options packages. I know it is better for their bottom line, but still seems to be less luxurious.

What kind of discount can you get a Porsche? 3% off MSRP? They laughed at me when I suggested 10% and told me to stick with BMW .. will do thanks.

I don’t know what you guys pay over the pond so maybe your pricing is night and day. The service I quoted on the Porsche was a major service and it’s on a Turbo S model which is on par with the BMW Competition brand.
From my experience so far, the Porsche customer service shits all over BMW’s. I had one of the very first X5’s 20 years ago and thought BMW was the bee’s knees but I had just moved up from Mitsubishi. These days however ... wow it’s poor |

I guess it’s all relative and subjective in regards to what you may consider expensive, but I was shocked when my friend said he had to pay nearly $2k for the 40k service on his Cayenne...
I don’t know about you, but to me that’s expensive. |

My last 3 Cayenne's 2013, 2015, 2015 I received 9-10% from the same dealer. Anytime I inquire my contact offers the same. Leases are not subsidized, and I prefer to lease.

Yes that’s what I call expensive. I owned the Panamera for 32months. It came to me serviced by Porsche with 6k miles. I just sold it on with 24k miles and in that time it had one service @ 20k and doesn’t require another until it covered 40k or 2 years. full service included all filters, plugs and brake fluid. Now I think that’s cheap to run.

Right now Porsche % rates are at the lowest I have ever seen. They are in a tough spot like everyone else. They are practically begging to sell pre certified.
Routine Servicing cost between BMW, Audi and Porsche are so similar it’s a non issue. With a new car it’s not a factor anyway and post warranty you must have a good Porsche Indy or you are screwed. Where Porsche gets expensive a lot more than BMW is parts. 911’s have to have the motor dropped to do anything so you have that extra labor cost built for everything but front engines shouldn’t be so different. I am getting 5% off my Cayenne E Hybrid order, which is typical on that or a Turbo. 8-10% is common on a base or S. I was fine with the 5% as the E Hybrid is also eligible for a $6712 tax credit.

Just of the top of my head but dont Porsche want to change the timing belt on the Cayenne every 40K????? I’m sure I’ve read that somewhere which would add a huge amount to those service cost>
