agreed, this ####s all over the f15 and it's not even close. I'm an e70 owner and the e70 is starting to look real dated now. Love this and would own one but can't afford brand new and the fact that you can have air suspension with height adjustments makes me want this also. I'm considering a 2016 LR4 landmark over an x5 because of offroad ability. new X5 should probably close the gap.

That’s what I’m waiting to hear too, looks like it has every other feature I’m wanting. The German catalog posted a couple pages back didn’t seem to have anything in it about the Remote Parking either.

PHEV Version

According to another Blog that lists when models are coming up, the PHEV version of the G05 is due for 2020. No mention of an X5 45e in the current releases. Anyone have any idea if this model will release before late 2019? One supposes that if it were a 2019 release, it would use the same battery type as the 2019 i3, which roughly doubles the capacity of that of the 2014-2016 models. The all-electric X3 is also set as a 2020 model. Will both of these (and a replacement for the 330e) be the last gasp of current battery technology before solid state batteries in 2022?

I, too, wish that the current dimentions had been used and left the growth to the X7. An inch longer and taller is not a deal breaker, but nearly 3 inches wider might be. Garage is pretty tight with the X5 40e, now.

Good point. The BMW Display Key is an available option, which is the precursor to remote parking, at least.

That GLE has nothing typing wise on the new G05 X5. It looks a lot like the first generation ML with the rear end of something like a Lexus RX.

And it's obviously a full-blown AMG version here or at least an AMG Line, it remains to be seen how bland the base version will look. I do like the wheel arch finishers that are thicker and bolder than on the X5 though.

The single bar grille is likely the GLE53, an AMG-line model, but not the future full-blown GLE63. Spy shots here: http://www.motortrend.com/news/spied...eals-new-look/

Edit: The W167 GLE is now predicted to debut at the LA Auto Show, which starts November 30 this year,

You are right about the grille, hardcore AMGs now get the vertical slats grille while soft AMGs get the single (but hollow/doubled) horizontal bar grille (previously used on full AMGs). I just assumed that this seemed like the most aggressive front bumper possible i.e. GLE63 while the GLE53 would get the toned down AMG Line bumper (just like the M50i X5 will get the M Sport bumper, not the full M bumper), but we'll see. It will be an interesting showdown for sure.

Lol...
It's going to be a long quiet two months for the ordering guide/pricing to be released if the G05 rollout is anything like last year with the G01 introduction.

I was at my dealer this morning getting recalls checked on my X3 M40i and they did order their HEA G05s. Ordering guide was still blocked however.

Just noticed that not only the M Performance but also the regular M Sport X5 has decorative trim pieces in the front bumper air intakes, just like the 5 and 7 Series. They are simply black, and therefore invisible against the black plastic foglight mounts and black air intakes, when the Shadowline window trim is optioned, as seen on the launch configuration, but they are bright and visible when the aluminum window trim is optioned on the M Sport (not sure whether it was previously possible), and naturally Cerium Gray on the M Performance.

Anyone know what the tow rating of the G05 X5 is going to be versus the F15 X5?

Rated capacity for the F15 models is 5,952 lbs., I believe. G05:

Curb weight

Sad to see the weight has gone up, rather than down.

F15 X5 xDrive35i - 4,735 lb.
G05 X5 xDrive40i - 4,813 lb.
+78 lb

F15 X5 xDrive50i - 5,095 lb.
G05 X5 xDrive50i - 5,170 lb.
+75 lb.

And that's despite the switch to the CLAR lightweight platform which is the main reason why the F15's life cycle was significantly shorter than normal, right?

Small quibble, the first weight jump is 78 lbs, not 122.

Correction noted. However, not a small quibble when all manufacturers, including BMW, are stressing weight loss as a priority. Reduced weight has benefits across the board.

I agree with you...
But what are the specifics behind those weights referenced (are they US numbers)? Are we comparing a similarly equipped F15 to a G05? Perhaps the G05 number is a loaded MSport with 22" and all the bells and whistles.

I find it hard to believe the G05's weight isn't lower than the F15...but wait, let's not forget that ridiculous automatic cargo cover and hideaway feature (that nobody asked for!!) BTW, how long before that thing breaks?
