This has been covered if you do a quick search. Next year is when they will be launching in the US. Orders should open up later this year if I recall correctly assuming some dealers aren't already taking them.

My dealer said this today:
“BMWs schedule for 2020 model year does not show a hybrid X5 as of now. If dealers are taking orders it looks like it's on a hope at this point.” Do you have a link to any definitive information to the contrary? Thank you. |

The last I saw, the hybrid will be a 2021 MY for the US so your dealer is correct. Since they are now available in some other countries perhaps they will be released earlier than other 2021 X5s.

Thank you Turtleboy. I think the 45e is a great X5 option and may be worth waiting for. It will be interesting to read posts from European owners as we wait here in the US.

I'd be fine with a X5 65e (650hp /750lb-ft) ie like what Porsche does with their hybrids by giving them enormous amounts of power that makes things faster not necessarily more efficient

Why would you buy a 45e in the US? Is this also a fiscal decision or an ecological decision?
To be honest I bought a 45e because it's much cheaper in taxes, many thousands of dollars. We in Europe buy the 45e mostly for fiscal reasons. Otherwise I would have bought the new G06 with a heavy diesel or petrol engine |

I think plug in hybrids In the US also qualify for federal tax credits. Also all electric cost per mile is 1/3 gas cost per mile in many states with cheap electricity. This can be 1/6 cost of gas per mile if you have solar.

Maybe they will copy/paste this drivetrain to the X5 as well. |
