Advice on Tires / Rims
Hi I have a 2019 40i with M package. The rims I got with the car are 21 inch 741M with run flat tires.
The rims are okay but I’d like to upgrade to 22 inch rims and tires. The issue is 22 inch tires don’t come in run flat. I’m thinking of keeping my 21 and adding winter tires (run flats) but in summer I would have no run flats. Anybody see any issue with this? |

I keep a plug kit and a compressor in the car. I've only had a couple of slow leaksdue to nails in my 15 years of driving history. Depending on your risk threshold that's one way to go. Some folks opt for a spare tire kit instead.

Unless you have the 3rd row seat you have room for a spare. Buy OEM at www.bimmerfest.com

It will work but only if it's simple puncture from nail or something. I've had sidewall ripped open when I hit crack on highway at angle (not perpendicular). Lost pressure within a few seconds. No compressor or slime sealant would help. Luckily my M550 with 20" wheels had spare - otherwise I would've had to wait for tow truck 120 miles away from home on Sunday evening (not fun). There is no right or wrong - it's all about how much risk you are willing to take.

Yes slime plug kit, not the liquid sealant though.
