Msport exhaust
Are there any 40i msport exhaust clips out there yet? I know in US its an option but in Canada its standard with msport package.
I'm sure someone took delivery already that can chime in.

I have a US 50i with the M sport exhaust and I can definitely notice a difference in sound between comfort and sport mode both at startup and under acceleration (not much of a change at idle though). It's not dramatic like installing an MPE or hitting the exhaust button on a Porsche so if that's what folks are expecting then you will be disappointed.

Well in the UK it is part of the "M Sport Plus Package" - not just included with an M Sport so I would double check whether you definitely have it...

the same is true on my G01 X3 M40i. There's a definite deeper, louder tone in sport vs normal so I don't see why the X5 wouldn't have the same either

I can also confirm that the 40i M-Sport exhaust in the US is VERY tame. Almost can't hear it at all inside...which is fine for us. We were looking more for a smooth/quiet/luxury ride from the 40i...and it definitely is!

Do you guys have to run in the engine and at least go for the first oil change before revving it past 3k.
Or are you red lining it right out of the box. |

I don't rev it to redline but you should still be able to hear something below 5k.
And tbh it's a leased vehicle so I don't really care about break in as I return it within a year. |

I'm pretty good with the break-in. Do I strictly follow the rules? No. But I'm not going like a bat out of hell at every stoplight. With the 50i you don't really need to step on the gas hard to really get moving.

I drive alot because of work so I would be pumping gas every 3 days in 5.0 That's why my last two X5's were both diesels. |

I thought, that you can't order 40i with M Sport exhaust in US? M Sport package doesn't include this exhaust.

The 4.0 in US doesn’t get the msport exhaust as part of the msport package. I’ll let you know how it sounds in Canada.
