How much are you paying on your auto insurance on your M50?

Hello everyone,

I'm interested in finding out how much everyone is paying for their auto insurance and which insurance company do you go through? If you could also list your age, location, and a rough outline of your driving record in the last 5 years. I should be picking up my X5 M50 in about 3 weeks and was quoted $290 per month with Geico. I'm 41, live in NY and have had 0 speeding ticket in the last 5 years.

cheers!!

Former auto claims adjuster here, you can really only compare with someone that fits your location the other demographics do make a difference, but where your vehicle is kept is a big consideration.

You want peoples age, driving record, location??? You might want to search this forum because this topic was recently posted and had a number of owners chiming in. TXSchnee is correct, pricing will vary largely depending on where your car is registered so only those owners in your area would be of much comparison help.

I remember a number of years ago when talking to my insurance agent about how to reduce my insurance cost. He said, just be lucky you don't live near NYC because your insurance would triple for the exact same car, coverage, etc. I'm about a four hr drive from NYC.

I've owned over 60 vehicles..... I've lived in over a dozen states.... I've owned $1,000 cars..... and $110,000 cars. From my experience, your insurance rates are based a "little" on:
1) The "typical" accident history of the car (My $25k Subaru WRX was more expensive than my Audi S8.... because WRXs are involved in more accidents)
2) Your age
3) Your driving history
4) Your credit report
5) Your marital status
6) The number of cars you own
7) Your sex

But more importantly..... more than all of the above combined????

.... Your location.

The poorest cities..... with the highest amount of vehicles on the road without insurance.... is what drives the cost of YOUR insurance up more.

Last I checked.... the most expensive city to insure a car, was New Orleans. Close behind.... Montgomery, Alabama.... Rural South Carolina... etc.

$71/month for my 2020 m50i. $100 deductible, 100/300. Denver suburbs, no tickets or accidents. Esurance. It is cheaper than my 2016 550, which was about $90/month. My 2015 i3 runs $67/month, and I have a 2001 Nissan that is $70/month.

I just got quotes for insurance on a Jeep Grand Cherokee, Porsche Cayenne, and an X5 40i. The X5 was the most expensive to insure. Location and age matter most, but the vehicle brand and model matter as well.

BMW is higher to insure. we have three big cars and two small ones. insurance on the Subaru is cheap (under 90/mo), the Lincoln and Mazda are both around 100, the 2019 Infiniti (95k msrp) is $112/mo; the 2020 Mercedes SUV ($108k) is about $125/mo; and our 2019 BMW is nearly $200/mo.
all currently owned, paid full in cash, and all garaged near Washington DC. all same owners registered to drive with same insurance.

I live like 10ft from NYC and it was estimated a little less than $800 for 6 months with progressive.

I think given the insane rate hikes over the last 3 years this thread would be a nice revive candidate. I’ll start. I’m paying about $300 per month in Virginia but I have a few claims in the past 3 years driving my rate up. 2 windshield claims really crushed my rate.

Garage List
$2,891/year for my 2024 x5 m60i in N. Texas. No claims or tickets. My other vehicles were hit with a 40% rate hike for this renewal period, as well. My homeowners policy went up 54%. Insurance market is crazy in Texas right now.
