Remote start failed but worked

I've finally got the remote-start feature configured on my watch. Leaving a store this morning I pressed Climate Control->Activate. After a little bit, I got a "Failed" message. Go to my car and it had, in fact, started and the AC was doing its job.

So it's working. But I can't figure out what the "Failed" message means. My guess is that it is just a timeout because the car somehow never told the server that it had actually started.

I had this happen one time after eating dinner got the same message but it was running. I'm guessing the app timeouts waiting for the vehicle to respond saying running..... I did report this to the genius line a few days after, he did say that it is possible the signal wasn't good enough to get it there in time but he put a "case" in whatever that means.

This has happened to me many times as well.

To be fair (and I am not trying to defend BMW here), some of my smart home devices do this as well from time to time.

Most of your home devices are unlikely to kill you with CO when you can't tell they are operating ...

... but anyway, the app message is likely providing snide commentary on the owner's life aspirations. My computers call me an invalid and a failure every day.

Well, one of the repeat offenders is my smart lock on the front door of my house, which, while it would not kill me with CO, might unknowingly leave my house unlocked or accidentally lock someone out. But we digress.

Interesting! Completely unrelated, what's your address? You can PM it if you want.

Digress is all we can do on this thread. BMW systems are not transaction-safe, that's the root cause. Nothing any of us non-BMW employees can do about it.
