45e thermal runaway

A 3-year-old 70000 km driven X5 45e burned recently in Finland while it was being charged at home. In one of the pictures, the flames seemed to come from underneath and mostly from the front half of the car.

I wonder if there have been other cases like this.. haven't heard of any, but difficult to believe that this would be the only one.

Garage List
this thread comes to mind. happened in Belgium

fire also started at the front, so wasn’t the battery. plus, it wasn’t plugged in or charging

my suspicion for the one in Finland would be at the charging port if it was deemed an electrical cause

Conclusion from BMW and insurance was vandalism in this case.
