2024 X5- Need more sound
Ive had a 2016 M4 and just recently a 2020 m4cs and got used to a little burble/ noise. I just picked up a 2024 X5 40i and wanted to see what options I have. Anyone have any ideas that wont make it sound like Honda Civic with a hole in the exhaust? LOL
-Debated on doing just a resonator delete (Not sure if it would throw a CEL). Maybe the M performance exhaust but if its roughly the same sound, id rather go the cheaper route lol. |

I will start a new thread to document what I do to change how my 40i sounds. Catted downpipe install happening soon too. These things should address the muted sound and just add a tad more aggression without being obnoxious. I have an M Sport Exhaust (underneath, visually it has two inlets going to the muffler). Do you, too? I bet, a resonator delete will pretty much sound the same as the M Performance Exhaust - and for $100, it’s worth the experiment. I wouldn’t think it would throw a CEL because a resonator is only addressing sound. Your cat is what would be related to a CEL. Plus - if it works out, you have like $3800 for something else lol. |

For sure. Burble tunes are lame. BMW 2018/2019 oem burble settings (for other models) are perfect.
Well, tomorrow I’ll have my resonator changed and will share. |

1.) Non M Sport (one inlet into the muffler); 2.) M Sport (two inlets into muffler) - seems that different countries have different types of “M Sport” exhausts - eg.) just because you have an M Sport 40i, doesn’t mean you have the M Sport Exhaust - best to check options on VIN and/or look underneath; 3.) M Performance Exhaust. |

PS. I took my car to the shop for work on resonator, but the shop said they didn't have the skill to do it because the pipe is oval, not round. Going to go to a different shop when I have time. If you decide to do it - let me know how it goes. Again, for $100 - you can't go wrong because you can always go back to stock if you don't like it. emerza |

Resonator delete is barely noticeable and that from outside only. Not audible from inside the car.

That's one weird excuse. Almost all exhausts have oval parts due to bends, attachments, etc. A competent exhaust shop can weld any piping. You are lucky that they told you that before they butchered your ride.

Forgive me if I'm overlooking in this thread- what factory exhaust was on your car at the start? Personally debating just a resonator delete w/ the M Sport exhaust for now. Thanks! |
