Is the air suspension troublesome on this particular X5?

Could have been someone that realized they needed a 3 row like a pilot, or a minivan, or wanted a CTR.

As folks mentioned, there are numerous reasons why they could have gotten rid of it besides having a mechanical issue.

To answer your question, no we have not seen the air suspension be a common problem.

Send it to Rahal ask them to look it over for you I think they charge less than 200 probably be the best money spent to ensure that there’s no problems

Car still has 10 month factory warranty left on it, so whatever comes up this year can be taken care of… I am more concerned about long term potential issues as I tend to keep cars longer.
How is the mild hybrid system in these cars? Is the 48V battery replacement needed at some point?

The 48 V system I think is just a lithium battery in the front fire wall under the rain gutter as far as I know it’ll get replaced at some point . Some earlier models had differential problems. You might check into the history and see if it was replaced.

We have not seen any common issues with the 48v MH system.

Have a 2021 45e. Original owner. No issues yet. Really happy with it. Good luck.

BMW does not recommend changing the fluid/filter and ZF says it could be done at a bit over 90k miles.
This is good to know, thank you for this info!

Electronics. The instrument cluster and drive.

My instrument cluster was replaced under warranty by the dealer but I still have occasional issues with the new one-

—bc button does not change the display. Stuck showing I’m in Drive with no map in the center.

Following this thread with great interest as I'm in same situation as OP.

FWIW I had a 2010 Acura TL and that thing was a POS. The 6 speed manual transmission had to be rebuilt at around 30k miles (2nd-3rd gear shift kept popping out and many times when shifting to R it wouldn't always engage fully). Then the engine starting consuming oil; long story short after battling Honda corp for many months and the dealership trying to instill blame on me for not doing the oil changes on time at their service dept, the dealership finally admitted the engine problem and put in a new engine. After that fiasco I got fed up and traded it in.
