Hi,

My dealer say the idrive7 will have an update in June in Sweden. At the moment nothing works that has to do with idrive7. Connecting my phone it states it is communicating with idrive but that is it. What I have is a Bluetooth speakerphone. Everytime i get a text or a messenger mess the volume goes down and I get the "Bing" for everyone to hear in the car. Spotify works only as with an external speaker or even worse as all sound is sent from my phone. I can see song names but only if in the list i have active on my phone. I have a Sony Xperia xz3 that is one of two supported Android devices according to BMW. Love the car but idrive7 should never been released when it does not even work out of the box. Bmw owners i must say you all are the most service mindes people I have met. Everyone has tried to help but all I want is a car that works without spending hours doing resets or wait until connected drive page is up as in Sweden it is mostly shut down. X5M50D

X5 Not engaging in Park

Had my 2019 X5 for 2 days- Camera malfunction. After for 4 days at the Dealer for reprograming issue resolved.

On 2/20/2019, the car would not engage in Park. Now the part is on order and will not be in until 3/19.

Inexcusable by all means in part of BMW but this is the problem with technology laden new cars. Some of this stuff is bound to give problems to early adopters.

Today I have sent more miles in my loaner than in my new one. Apparently they ordered the wrong parts and smiled and joked about me getting more used to the loaner. My problem is an err in the differential lock, no idrive7 works with my phone when connected to the car. First edition is always buggy but i feel we have not even passed the beta stage.

I don't understand how come these cars are passed the QC? why customers need to go through all these pains. My car is still with my dealer for the last 6 weeks.

Yep, BMWNA assigned a person to follow up with me and the dealer but I feel it just gives me update what my dealer says that I can find anyhow by calling my dealer.

How come in the modern world ship parts from Germany to Canada takes 6 weeks?

BMW customer service even worse than Apple.

These are systemic problems with the platform which is why parts aren't available. It seems to me that BMW is throwing darts in the dark trying to fix things, or they don't want to admit the issues. They replaced the head unit in mine after 3 trips to the dealer to fix the CarPlay issues. Had to wait a while for it to ship from Germany, still didn't fix the issues. Reduced driver assistance issues, install new KAFAS camera, still doesn't fix the issue. See a pattern here?

Cars today are more computer than car. Unfortunately, these things happen with many computers until the glitches are ironed out. Most auto makers are experiencing these types of issues. And as with computers, I’m sure that at least some of the issues are user error or user lack of knowledge. It used to be that all you needed to know to operate a car was where to put the key. No more.

Really looking forward to picking up my X5 in a few weeks.

2nd time was a day after I got the car back from the dealer after being serviced for a week.

Had mine for a few weeks now. Great car and my head is spinning with the technology. One issue with mine is the occasional shuddering on light acceleration at low speed. Feels like it's caught between gears. When I increase acceleration, the shuddering stops.

My X5 literally shut down driving to vermont for a weekend ski trip outside of albany ny. software needed to be updated. Wtf is this shit. $70k car with software issues? You gotta be kidding me. why can't bmw buy lexus parts holy crap dude. come on....ready to trade this thing in. this is a joke right because I'm this close to buying a land cruiser. its like their mass producing these cars outta SC but not making quality r u kidding me????? I paid over 70k for this car. stop it. just stop.

Your rant is strange. Your X5 had a software issue yet your are upset because BMW doesn't use Lexus parts. Makes no sense but whatever.

If you think the grass is greener behind the wheel of a Land Cruiser, be my guest. The Land Cruiser we get in North America is an ancient model that drives and feels like crap but probably reliable because it is an old truck underneath.

On going electric issues

After receiving my X5 in Jan 2019, the vehicle has been in the shop 6 different times (another scheduled visit this week) each time 10PLUS days.

The vehicle was FINE until they contacted me about a recall on the twin turbos, transmission line and an air filter. I pulled out of the dealer that day the the vehicle has never been right. They said recall on mechanical not electrical.

Two control modules and a front camera later, I am told there is a software update coming the end of June that should fix it.

I don't know about anyone else in here but the price of this vehicle and the amount of time in the shop we should not wait till the end of June.

I just picked up the vehicle tonight and on the way home it broke down again, for the SAME issue they said they fixed. My repair order has 6 line items that state the issue is corrected...NOT SO FAST!

BMW NA told me ZERO financial consideration will be given for the over two months in the shop. That a loaner was given, lets see 19 X5 5.0 in the shop X1 given as a loaner...yup same price point

^ Contact BMWNA and let them know they have until the end of the week to get it fixed or else you want to have a buy back. If they don't agree to that then you should look at the Lemon Law regs in your state and start that process, perhaps that will light a fire under them. Good luck and let us know.

Here we go agan

My X5 still at the dealer, called BMW NA, they got the service records and gave me the same message the dealer gave me. Late June to mid July the software update should fix these issues. We understand the car has been in the shop since 5/30, we do not have any other answers...
