We have owned mostly MB’s Audi’s and BMW’s over the last thirty plus years and I would say that my wife’s Acura RDX is probably the overall best car we have owned. Looks, quality, reliability, dealer experience have been top notch and in addition the car was almost $10k Canadian cheaper than its German rivals Certainly not “Asian knock off junk” in my opinion. BTW my watch was made by a very old established Swiss watch maker so I’m not part of your fake “Rolex/ LV crowd. |

That said, arguing on internet forums is pointless. YOU have a problem if you believe that a race or country isn't capable of producing a product as good as another race or country.

I get what you're saying but this is what i don't get: if someone just wants a luxurious car to get from A to B, they'll post likely go for a Japanese vehicle. They are cheaper than the Germans and hits all the points you're making. The Koreans are cheaper than the Germans but not cheaper than the Japanese, so what 'new' thing are they offering that would convince this customer to switch to Genesis? |

The GX is an oddball when comparing since its more truck like with a body-on-frame platform, and is incredibly outdated at a decade old. Most GV80 reviews and press materials have also been pitching it against the RX for its Japanese competition and the X5 and GLE for the Germans.

For a number of reasons (no spare, no massage seat for the passenger [questionable for the driver], forcing 22" wheels on the top trim, no air suspension, etc.) I won't be getting a GV80 but should those items be resolved it would be on my list of contenders. Being used to the ride/handling of the X5 my guess is that it will fail in that comparison but it is too early to tell on that.

In fairness to Genesis, I believe the quilted leather option is available on production models, but it's reserved for the highest trim level

Found some photos of the non-quilted interior. Still looks nice, I especially love the cool color combos.

That is correct, the Prestige Package (only for the 3.5) gets the Nappa leather seats which are quilted.

On the Genesis forum quite a few people wish they could get the top trim but get a spare instead of the third row and get the 20" wheels rather than 22". Most have said though they will compromise and get it anyway even though it isn't like they would configure it.

I crack up when I hear people call this Hyundai scrap a "Korean Mercedes", what a joke. This stuff isn't in the same universe as Audi/BMW/Mercedes. The people who are slobbering over this stuff want to think they can get a German level vehicle for the price of a knock off, doesn't work that way. |

The concern about the dealership situation is real. Its bad enough to go into most dealerships, including BMW, Merc, etc but going in to the likes of Hyundai, Kia, etc, which I have done, is punishment I don't deserve. I don't mean to come off as snobbish, however I do want to have a positive and un-regretful dealership experience when handing them $75K. |
