Did BMW really remove soft close doors for the 2021 X5M and X6M?

I have a 2021 X5M going into production it has soft close doors. This might be only with US deliveries.

I also have the sky lounge sun roof which is not available in the US

No they did not remove from US for the X5 M. thanks it's no longer a stand alone option but included in the executive package.

They did remove it from the other X5 trim packages along with Hot/Cold cup holders.

The 2021 US configurator is up on website where you can build it and verify.

Just wanted to add that feature is rather useless on the X5M anyway. I have it and the weight of the doors usually is enough for the doors to close on its own without the SCD activating. I would prefer the SCD do its thing but you can almost never close the doors light enough to make it work. I had it on my F85 and F15 as well and it was the same thing.

I really liked that way it pulled on my F10 M5 and on my M6, but not so much on my X6M, but yeah, I would rather have it than not have it if given the choice.

I use my soft close doors all the time. My kids now mastered the right “pull door in to close” You can’t hear any of my doors close now that no one slams them.

Is the sky lounge sunroof something that can be added to the X5M? I figured it can be a special order since it already comes on other X5 models

^^ not easily if i had to guess. You'll have to see if your dealership is willing to jump through a few hoops for you and even then it might not be possible. It sort of pisses me off that the X5M's in the US doesn't get to have this option when others do.

I say that the real benefit of SCD's is the ease in which the doors securely close with just the slightest push, not that they self close should the door be somewhat ajar. It is really a great option and something almost everyone who has it gets used to quickly. Way too bad that MY21 X5 & X6 buyers can't have it. In no way will the weight of the doors replace this great feature.
