Misses?

Surprised BMW hasn't gone to 48V electrical yet, like Mercedes and Audi have in their new models. Also a little disappointed it's gotten larger and (according to Autoweek) 75 lb. heavier than outgoing ones.

This is probably an $8,000 interior package with some "Individual" elements. Very misleading. Many will be disappointed with the standard interior materials, as with any other car launch.

absurd comment. I agree this interior shows likely a premium interior (seems like full/extended leather), it will be nowhere close to $8000.

The most expensive leather add on in any BMW car today is $5000 for the new M5. The most expensive X5/6 leather today is merely $3700. Even the flagship 7 series' most expensive leather is not $4000, all of it categorized as "individual".

The only thing possibly "individual" about this interior we see is that maybe the added color option is categorized as "individual" on the build tool, but it'll be configurable to the mass market, meaning it's not really "individual". An true "individual" interior means, you actually walk in and look at the myrid of leather swatches, and pick the one you want with contrast stitching, and maybe, just maybe that will cost around $7000. I doubt this X5 interior will even be $5000 given the M5 is at $5,000 today.

Read my post, please. I said interior package (executive, luxury seating, or something new all together) + individual leather.

78.9" of width (and length of 194.3")? No, thanks - too big. Not good for parking, and who wants to navigate such a huge beast.

Bmw needs to start uploading their promo videos in 4K. We're not in 2010 anymore lol.

Also, anyone know what exactly he did by waving his phone by the door handle? Assuming he used the phone as a key?

If you think that's big, wait until you see the X7

I agree, great video. Been liking their videos lately, M8 GC concept for example. Read a while ago that they’ve gotten in trouble for showing tyres losing traction (drifting) in their ads though. Glad they have continued it regardless

IMHO, BMW screwed up on those tail lights. Kinda generic looking.

F15 tails are so much nicer.

well then... you're just saying, if you fully spec out a car, you can easily add $8000 to the base price from interior items alone. This isn't new, it's already happening. The M6 GC's base is around $120k. To date, I have never seen an actual $120k sticker M6 GC, ever. Every car is built to at least a $135k sticker bc everyone adds certain packages (audio, exec, assist).

BMW obviously has moved towards the Porsche pricing model especially for their upper end cars, where you have a base price, but it's impossible to walk out the door paying a base price.

That's 4 1/2" narrower and 5" longer than the current GLE (soon to be replaced). Width is fine, IMO, but it is getting a bit long obviously to better accommodate that optional 3rd row that I have no use for. Of course with 4-wheel steering and self-parking options you can somewhat overcome with technology. Won't help if your garage is too small, though.

That's exactly my thought... But overall I really like the design. Driver will just have to be careful not to accidently shut off the engine when switching drive modes.

So what is your point exactly? Is that you're unhappy that they show options? Uh.. is your X5 barebones stock?

To be fair, the base M5 is pretty livable without options, though. Only a couple whizbang gadgets that I'd add because they're cool, but certainly not "must haves."

then it comes down to what's a "must have" versus an actual option. And it comes down to the buyer's preferences and use of the car.

To be honest, with most M cars, I'm okay if it doesn't even come with navigation. Just give me a 6MT with adjustable throttle, steering, EDC and MDM, and I'm good to go.
For the X5 type cars, I'm going to want everything...even the 12 inch rear screen. But with kids, I'm not going to want the premium soft touch leather.

Wide vehicles are a pain in side-by-side parking. Those extra inches make it much more likely to get dings from doors and damage from people scraping your car when walking between cars. It also makes it harder to navigate in and out of those spots, particularly when the vehicle is long as well. Also, challenging when navigating and parking in typical city parking garages.

I don't know why they keep growing these vehicles. In a few generations, they will be as large as a minibus

I agree with those points. By “width is fine” I was referring to the fact it’s quite a bit narrower than the comparable Mercedes that is my wife’s DD now. So, that’s a personal judgement.
