Upgrade from 22 X5MC to 24 LCI Worth it?

Anyone doing this? I LOVE my car, best car I have ever owned. It is fairly heavily modified but all mods would move over to LCI with ease. With that said, are folks inclined to upgrade to LCI? Pros / Cons?

Only you can answer that question. BMW made some cosmetic upgrades, some elec/sorta/hybridy changie, ID8, etc.

Some will love it and have to have it. I respect that.

Some will not (me). In dark colors to blend the front fascia, the LCI looks killer IMHO.

Hybridy stuff is a turn off to me due to complexity and the engine stop feature memory loss.

The ID8 and double stick taped dash screen that I saw on the XM at the dealership.......is a step backward ...but only for me.....some will love the new Tech.

When my 22 gets old....will I buy one....absolutely....I just hope they get the bugs out and integrate the dash and ID8 better by then....if not, I'll still buy it and adjust.

Good luck !

For me it wasn't worth it.

Visually I can't say I like the LCI more than the pre LCI. My car is also pretty modded to suit my tastes at the moment. Sure I can also transfer most of my parts over to an LCI but I just don't see what benefit I would be getting me by doing so considering the overall cost to switch.

My plan is to wait it out one more year when all of the reviews/comparisons are out and hopefully car deals are back somewhat then reassess. I do like the LCI but just not enough of a difference to make me want to switch. My 2020 still puts a huge smile on my face every single time I drive it. The F95 is my favorite BMW I've ever owned.

+1 on the personal decision.

Coming from an F85 it was an obvious decision for me. If I had a 22, I also probably would have already invested too much on it where it probably wouldn’t make sense to upgrade.

Agree that this is a very personal decision. I haven’t really thought about upgrading myself, but always like to hear from other folks who may have at least floated the idea.

For me, I’ve only had my 22 since August and it was my first BMW. I was daily driving a model S plaid before this and I like the X5 better in almost every single category. I do like the new grille on the LCI, along with some of the simplified interior. I think I’d also like ID8. However, I do not like the new headlights at all, and am not keen on the mild hybrid and added weight.

I have also never modified a car like this. And went a little wild on the F95. Knowing that can be moved over to the LCI had me thinking…

For now, I’ll just continue to smile every time I drive the car. And always like hearing from the folks on this forum who all know far more than I do about the brand and their cars

Agreed, my lease is up on our 2020 and getting a 2024 but only because of that. and the hybrid stuff is a turn off, our 2023 Audi RS6 has it and when the battery died the entire car died, dead no power no nothing stranded on the side of a busy road with no hazards and couldn't even open the trunk without climbing through the back. awful experience makes me rethink this whole stupid 48v mild hybrid nonsense. fully electric BEV like my iX no issues, and maybe even the 50e, but this system adds weight and it seems not much performance improvement, maybe 1mph better gas mileage and also mad about the stupid stop start reset every time.

haha was thinking the same. Loads of RS6 have this 48V system fail, mine included after 20k miles. I am hoping BMW won't have the same issues.

If it were me, I’d hold off. I doubt there is much if any peeformance gains. Could be a drop with the extra weight. My wife has a new X7 with the new iDrive 8.5. It is nice, but the iDrive 7 is really a nice combination of touchscreen and buttons. Unless you’re getting pushed at the end of a lease, I don’t see the need. I’ll be facing that question in about 16 months. I’m leaning toward buying it out and seeing what the next gen looks like when it comes out. It’s going to be hard to top this thing - it’s so practical and fun.
